Finally got chance today for a good Xbox session, house to myself plenty of time etc, and guess what...

Damn thing is 5 months past 3 years so no free repair either. Extra kick in the balls is that I know that I've got Forza 3 waiting for me for Christmas and I probably can't afford to get a new 360 untill Feb!

Try the free repair anyway.
Lots of people have had their box repaired after the limit.

Mine was about 4 years when it was fixed FOC. Given it was their forth attempt though they bloody should have done.

I tried it online and it came back with warranty expired and asked me for card details. Tried ringing support and they said that I would have to pay

Anyone know another way I could try get it booked in for free?

Why don't you try fixing it your self? Nothing to lose and it might make it work until you can get a new one

Fix it yourself, i did and it worked ok for ages until i sold it, so it could still be going now. All I did was buy the xclamp fix kit off ebay, it cost all of 4 pounds. As long as you have a modicum of common sense, and can use a screwdriver without killing yourself, it should be easy enough. A few tips though:

1. Whatever you do, DONT scratch the green boards inside at any time, or you'll turn it into a doorstop.
2. Having about 8 extra pairs of hands will help you with the stupidly fiddly washers etc that nearly drove me insane!

Interesting to know that there is a "fix" available, I guess worth a try if you are out of the 3 years. Good luck.

I found using a bit of tape to hold the screws in place made it a lot eaiser!
