...is it worth buying a PS3 just for COD:MW2?

ETA: Essentially, please convince me I need a PS3

ETA: My mates have PS3s so all I have to do is decide to buy one or not! COD:MW2 looks amazing, but does it justify a spend of around £250 just for that?

I reckon it'll work on that laptop, but might have to be at the lower end of the resolution scale. It runs fine on my wife's laptop. What graphics chip does it have?

Find out what your mates have or look in the 360 and PS3 userlists to see who you want to play with. The games are identical on both and there really isn't much difference between PSN and Live. Also see what exclusives are on each console and make a decision based on all of these factors.

why is it fanboy comments???? ive stated that you have to pay for online gaming if you buy an xbox and you dont if you buy a ps3!! so with that in mind the ps3 is the better option in my opinion

There is a few good deals on the ps3, shop around a bit and I'm sure you'll find a good deal

Yes IMO. I have played COD4 on multiplayer for 11 days so I've definately had my monies worth. The PS3 is great as a multimedia device to stream media from PCs, browse the net and Sky Player is coming in May (I know the XBox has it already) We also have iPlayer and Vidzone. (I did have a 360 for 18 months or so before 2 RRODs pushed me to the dark side.) The price of the PS3 slim is a lot better now as well and it is also a Blu Ray player.

MW2 is definitely worth it and when you're finally bored of the single player and online play in a few months GT5 will be near release.

On a side note, are you only able to buy the new PS3 Slims now because I looked at one in the shop the other day and they look a bit plasticy and st compared to the older ones like I've got?
