Racers And Drifters War - The "Bear Necessities" Tournement
Discussion
Intro
GasolineFire aka. GT Kodiak:
I enjoy drifting and many a good drift tune will actually be very grippy and competetive in a race.
Grip tuners will argue that drfting slows you down. But who does it really slow down? You? or the guy behind you?
So I'm holding a Touge race to find out.
Having a Touge Race rather than a drift championship (which would either be complicated by needing judges or flawed by using the ingame points system) allows racers to come together with drifters to have some good head to head action.
Touge
T¨ge (g?) is a Japanese word literally meaning "pass." It refers to a mountain pass or any of the narrow, winding roads that can be found in and around the mountains of Japan and other geographically similar areas.
Placing a series of s or bends in the steep roads that provide access to and from the high elevations of the mountains was intended to be a safety measure, usually to prevent commuters from reaching unstable speeds or creating excessive wear on the vehicles associated with them. It is therefore ironic that these same passes have become popular with street racers and motorsport enthusiasts in the last two decades, providing a dangerous and therefore challenging course where nightly competitions are not unheard of.
Why?
What I'd love to have during this competion is:
Drift racer vs. Drift racer battles: Lots of close sideways action, weaving in and out of each other. A dangerous ballet held on the rev limiter.
Drift racer vs. Grip Racer battles: A test of patience and skill. The Drifter trying to block the road round corners, desperately trying to hold the revs high enough round sharp corners to allow for a good exit speed. The racer showing control and poise in picking passing points and racing lines.
Grip Racer vs. Grip Racer battles: Drafting and Outbraking 200ft above sea level. Thinking two corners ahead. Wrestling the car through the tightest corners in the Fuji Mountain Pass.
Stages
Will comprise of sections set by me on:
Fujimi Kaido
Nurburing
Camino de Viero
These will be head to head. 1v1. With me either spectating or chasing in a suitable car acting as ref.
Cat and Mouse/Sudden Death rules will apply.
The lead car wins if the space between the cars increases considerably, while the following car wins if they overtake the lead car. If any car spins out or crashes, the other one wins the race.
This is typically a sudden death format in that, in the event of the following car keeping pace, the race is usually rerun with the positions swapped. Once again the new lead car must pull away from the pursuer significantly, or the follower must overtake, to win and prevent another run.
This method is often used when the road area isn't wide enough to allow passing, but if the car in front does indeed somehow get passed, the overtaken car automatically loses.
You will choose who you challenge next and agree a time. As each duel will only take up the time of 3 people (Challenger, Defender and Me) and for a relatively short time.
You may only challenge someone once. Therefore they can request a rematch if they haven't already challenged you.
The most recent result will stand!
Limits
PI 255
Forza Aero not allowed
Any Drivetrain
Any Aspiration

Spinning Out of your own accord counts as a loss.
A crash causes a restart unless deemed to be deliberate in which case the offender is counted as losing the heat.
A small rub if deemed as not hindering the course of the race is considered acceptable.

I challenge you to a duel then (seeing as you are already on my friends list)
Do you accept or admit defeat?

Sounds fun, but doesnt the lack of slick tyres favour the drifters? They will want sport tyres rather than race. I may have a little secret weapon for this, requires a PI check later
You say that, But FWD will have the Advantage uphill. With slicks makes it too noticeable.

E-Class if I remember correctly Scott.
And I'm in the Grand Postie Prix tonight at 8, depending on connection issues and ammount of people around. So after then?...
