I did exactly this, when my 360 died I bought an Arcade bundle very cheaply and just transfered my Hard drive.

Works with no problems.

Same here, my hard drive has been on three different xbox's.

That's why they sell the arcade version. It's useless as a standalone console without any storage, but a nice earner for M$ as people buy them to replace dead consoles that M$ won't repair.
