You're right. It has been asked before. There is a sticky at the top of the page called 'Which console is right for me'

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Although it does need updating as the prices have changed since then. Main points still stand though.

So many people seem to start threads with reference to this type of question nowadays.. I would have though the console fanboys would have done their best to answer this a long time ago.

People will tell you that one or the other is the best, and alot have also got both. To be honest, and in my opinion, it depends on what you'll largely use it for. If you want to play online a lot and wanted to spend less on a console then the Xbox is probably a good bet. But if you'd prefer having the same gameplay, some different games including some sony exclusive titles and wanted to watch Blu-rays, then perhaps go for the PS3. I had a 360 for the last 3 years which i recently sold in favour of buying a PS3 Slim in the next month or 2.

Only reason i'm changing is because i wasn't using Xbox live as much anymore and paying £40 per year for the privilege. I can also watch Blu-rays and play some different exclusive games (GT5 when its released for example).

I'm having to decide whether to get a PSP-GO or a PS3 this month. I already have a PSP, so is the GO any good, worth replacing my 5 year old PSP-1000 with? Or shall I get a new slimline PS3 to accompany my Wii, Xbox 360 and 10+ other consoles?

Can a mod lock this please before it descends into another slanging match? As Steve said, the thread you need is at the top of the forum.

PSP-Cartman edition or a PS3, do you really need to ask?

I would just ask, if there is a SPECIFIC game which you MUST HAVE then this may make your decision for you....... As not all games are on both machines (it's unlikely, but you never know).

I had a go on a PS3 the other day - first time ever - on the Solid Snake game. I was always a PS owner and used to love these games, but I have to say it was just terrible. It had no redeeming features whatsoever. I now understand if that's a AAA title on the PS3 why they haven't sold many. I do wonder whether the majority are bought as a Bluray player first and used for the occasional game?

The go's pretty much the same as the normal psp, same graphics, smaller screen. But it does have more memory - i'd go for a ps3 anyday and when your psp breaks get a go

Cheers, have decided to rewire the whole home entertainment set-up this weekend anyway (am on call so can't go out!) so will incorporate a PS3 into there too. It's an absolute nightmare wiring everything into everything else, and I don't even have an HD telly or surround sound...
