I have always played xbox live using the wireless networking from my laptop to allow the xbox to connect to the intrnet, by just porting it through the computer's networking port. My brothers did however break the port completely the other day, smashing the clips around it meaning nothing stays in and also snapping some of the connections.

In order to combat this i went to PC world and baught a belkin adapter to go in the USB port and provide a connection. I have allowed porting and connecting to the internet through the check boxes on the newtwork and port settings from the control pannel but my xbox just cant seem to connect to the live, it doesn't even seem to be able to detect a network full stop.

how do i fix this as i am despairate to play some COD

Your better going for a wired connection, if that's not possible then have a look at network power adapters, that uses your internal power wiring instead.

Wired connection is not possible as i move between both home and the uni house. The adapter for the xbox specifically may be the best way to go tbh. think thats what i will be investing in and taking this belkin thing back tomorrow as it just doesn't work.
