PS3 help - please! (mode not supported)
Discussion
I turned on my PS3 the other day for the first time in months and I will not work - I just got a 'mode not supported' message. I messed around with the HDMI cable for ages and can only get the ps3 to work using the basic cable that comes with it. Looking online there seems to be lots of people with the same issue - who also all have samsung tvs. I also am using a samsung! the only thing that changed between working and not working is that we went on holiday for two weeks and my wife unplugged the tv. Has it reset or something?
I had a similar issue when I changed TVs (went from Plasma LG to LCD Sharp). Try pressing and holding the power button (front touch panel) on the console for a few seconds until it beeps a few times. You should have your HDMI connected and the TV on when you do this, don't recall if it has to be on the PS3 input, but can't hurt to do this.
This is a sort of reset and you should get a setup menu on your TV screen allowing you to choose display type etc.
