Following on from my 360 Blueray thread. I only have enough room for 1 gaming machine. Standalone Blueray not an option either.

The lack of Blueray on 360 has now become an issue with the purchase of a new TV. I was an early adopter with HD-DVD.......

The new PS3 Slim is looking like an attractive proposition at the moment.

Has anyone made the transition from the 360 camp over to Sony.

Thoughts appreciated.

i haven't but have thought about it a few times, just never get round to it, i think the games debate is not so important now as both systems have great games now. i think right at this moment the reason why many people choose the 360 over the PS3 is the on-line service, which the 360 is superior at this moment, the the question i would ask my self would be, how often do you play online?

Well I never play online so their you go.... Only negs will be letting the game collection go ( around 30 titles ) some of which have never been played. Probably have around £100 worth of download content too.

Well I guess theirs always a downside....

With a little look the 360 sale may fund the PS3 purchase although I'm still undecided ....

Sell your games & your xbox via ebay, you'll get a lot more than via trade in.

I've had both machines since launch day and up until about four months ago, I onlt ever used the PS3 for BR movies.

I've since found myself choosing games on the PS3 format due to the slightly better graphics. However the BR capacity for discs is starting to come through - PS3 Arkham Asylum's ability to play the Joker for example.

Granted the XBL community's much better though. For Modern Warfare 2, I'll be buying 360. For single player games, I think I'll be buying PS3 from now on...

+1

For multiplayer XboxLive still tips it, but only because I have more friends on there than on the PS3.
For single player I tend to choose the PS3 most of the time. The user interface is far faster and slicker (and not to mention the console itself is sooooo much quieter)

ps. Tuan, does than mean we will se you on live again playing MW2? (Although a few I've spoken to seem to be in the "wait for the cheap second hand copy" camp)

I have. I only did it as I got the RROD twice and to be honest, I can't see any difference between them. There may be graphical differences but you'd only notice side by side.

Online, I don't miss anything at all as I usually go into the XMB and see what mates are playing then load the game. You can then be invited into their game. Cross game invites are rather overhyped by the Live community as a better feature than PSN.

Just find out what exclusive games you like on the PS3 and see if it is worth it. TBH, if the missus wouldn't cut my balls off for getting another gadget, I'd have both now that the 360 issues have alledgedly been sorted.

I was on my second 360 when the PS3 came out. Due to a poor selection of good exclusive 360 games (got a gaming PC and most of the Microsoft games hit PC and tend to be much better and cheaper). Decided to get the PS3 for the Blu Ray and exclusive games that hardly ever hit other platforms (MGS, gran tourismo etc) never looked back. I find the system so much more reliable than the 360 wireless play less laggy and much more intereactive content with things like the eyetoy, sixaxis controller and the new PS Motion coming out.

GI Jnr Jnr's sleep patterns permitting, I'll be there!

I'll probably get it on release day. GI Jane works in at the local Blockbuster and so 20% staff discount ahoy!

I'm going to be purchasing a PS3 Slim when I return to England in November, although only because I want a bluray player because 'I'm ready for hi-def!!!'

I've had a look at other standalone blurays and there are some good ones, but they just don't have the upgradeability that the PS3 has.

Gonna stick with Xbox for games.

I'm quite excited about getting the PS3, but wouldn't ever think of having it as my only console, the Xbox is just too good I think.
