Will 360 ever get Blueray ?

Well I finally went 1080p yesterday with the purchase of a new TV and it had me looking at my sad collection of 12 or so HD-DVD's.

The PS3 Slim is starting to look like an attractive proposition.

Googleing 360 Blueray brings up loads of speculation from around May / April last year with Toms Hardware actually stating that Microsoft had placed orders for drives then it goes cold.

I can't hear mine when watching movies, but then I have it under the telly which is a good 12-15ft away from where I sit.

+1. I got really pissed off by the whirring of the fan during the quiet bits of films. Ended out spending £130 at Richer Sounds and have found both the picture and sound quality on a stand alone bluray player better than the PS3. And it's quiet.

If you have the room buy a stand-alone IMHO.

Yup. Well, not so much stream (don't know of may home connections that can deal with HD content streaming), but certainly download.

I honestly don't have a clue what your taling about?

I've got a newish PS3 (160GB LE edition) and I cannot hear the bleeding thing at all, to the point that the other day I was watching TV and noticed I had left it on (blue light was on instead of the red standby one).

When watching a BD the sound of the unit doesn't seem to change at all. Maybe there was some subtle internal fan upgrade since the early machines?

Maybe it has something to do with where it's kept. I have a big enclosed TV cabinet with glass doors. I keep the doors open when using the PS3, but ultimately it means the machine is enclosed on 5 sides with only the front 'open'. That said, before I started using the current set-up I still heard the fan clicking on every now and again.

Mines also in a wooden TV stand/cabinet thats only fully open at the front. My mates is on one of thosse glass shelf TV stand things pretty much open all the way round. My console is the same as his... almost totally silent when in use (there is a quiet "whoosh" when it first starts up, but after that nothing).

Maybe it is something they have changed over the years with newer machines having redesigned cooling. I feel it's only fair to add that I am stupidly anal when it comes to hi-fi and tv stuff so what is a big bugbear to me may be hardly noticable to the more sane

I got mine pretty near the release date......but ummmmmm it fked up last week, so i ordered a Slim.
