I've also decided to sell my DS. I just cant get on with the type of games. The cutesy Japanses style just does not do it for me.
I do appreciate gadgets and know the PSP is a very nice bit of kit but looking on Gamespot at the releases it hardly seems to merit the title 'Games Console'

Yeah it would be for the games. But looking at the link I posted to Gamespot the current releases look a bit dire as well as few and far between ..If you're wanting something for playing games in the house all the time then you're better with a PS3/X360.
There's plenty decent games though, GTA, Ratchet & Clank, Pro Evo, Burnout, Locoroco, all the EA efforts.
And then you can bang tv and films on it for journeys.
Does the job for me, but wouldn't want it to be the main games machine.

this is what is stopping me from getting a Sony reader. Don't hold your breath on that one, it's currently about 3 years late.I have a PSP, bought on launch day that saw little use, just found the games weren't the kind you could really pick up and play quickly.
I have a DS which gets more use, but mostly by the GF rather than me.
I am tempted to buy the new sliding PSP when I go to Japan next month, having the games stored on the memory would be more convenient than messing about with discs (something I didn't like about the old one).
I had a PSP for a while before being persuaded to give it to my step-son. I used it almost exclusively as a personal video player when commuting into London on the train. The screen was excellent for that kind of thing and the sound was ok too. The spaceship battle bit of Serenity looked particularly good.
I never really got into using it as a handheld console, ironically. Just wasn't my thing.
