I am having that itch again...

I used to play WoW avidly. Level 60 Druid full T2 and a 70 Rogue also with st hot raiding gear.

I am looking for something to fill that void now. Not WoW though as I don't want to go back to that and I want a 'new world' so to speak.

I have looked at Warhammer Online and LOTRO, what would you guys suggest?

WHO has poor endgame, i got so bored of it at 30's i quit.

You're rewarded for taking keeps, which lag too much to do if defended. The entire endgame is avoiding the enemy to try and take a keep.
It's crap.

However, the first sets of battlegrounds are fun.

No idea about LOTRO.

So presumably it has no PvE just PvP?

I enjoy raiding and instances mainly but also like a good old PvP scuffle.

It does have PvE, but it seemed empty when i did it. Ended up soloing a lot.

Lame, I might try LOTRO then. I bet that is crap as well though, it always seems to point back to WoW...

Yea i played WoW a bit, but the PvP wasn't anywhere near as good. DaoC had stat caps, so whilst gear as important, there wasn't the situation where the 12 year old kid who plays 65 million hours a day and has the sword of a thousand truths 1 shots you with 'pure talent'.

Star Wars Knights of the old republic 1 & 2? Plus the 3rd one is due out next year? They're not online though, but I've had hours of fun out of both of them.

Both KOTORs are amazing... I am so annoyed they are not compatible with Xbox360 otherwise I wouldn't play anything else! Epic games.

10,000 years in the future IIRC... Set in space, way more complicated than WOW etc but well worth it when you get into it. Much more 'adult' (no I don't mean space sex) as when you die you don't go to a graveyard with all your stuff intact.. If you lose a ship you lose all fixtures fittings and the ship, along with some of your skills you've learnt unless you have an up to date clone... Complicated, as I said, but well rewarding IMO.

If you send me your email address I can give you a 21 day free trial (on the website it is 14 days).

All players are on the same server, so no instances. If you are in the game then any other player can interact with you. Because of this, events elsewhere in the game have a knock on effect - A huge war happening somewhere can mean prices go up because of disruption to supplies or increased demand due to stuff getting destroyed.

The market is almost completely player run - some items are seeded but most are manufactured by players.

You can do pretty much anything you like within the game - if the game mechanics allow it, you can do it (with one or two exceptions), but this means you can scam people, cheat, lie, kill, pirate, whoever you like with the only comeback being if the have more powerful friends than you.

Things that happen are permanent - if your ship blows up then it is gone for good. So is the stuff that was in it, unless you happen to be able to get to the wreck before anyone steals it.

You don't have to do PvP all the time as there are plenty of other things to do, mining, mission running, manufacturing, trading etc.

It also looks pretty cool - this is all in game footage.

Eve is very different to other MMOs but well worth investing time in learning, though the curve is not so much steep as overhanging... hehe

How about Age of Conan? It will distract you for a while as the leveling is pretty fast and it is fun but not serious. By comparison LOTRO is a bit dull and grindy.

They probably have some offer or other at the mo, so give it a go.
