Had no idea that this was in the offing...

I could see things changing over the last six months but really never thought this would happen. To think that people could now face being sued for adding free mods is quite unbelieveable.

There are still many places that hold the files. The mod team websites for one, RSC, Nogrip and others. Plus there will no doubt be a new repository for free content appearing soon.

Maybe someone needs to get started now on a free repository for rFactor content to take advantage of the situation, I have unlimited webspace and 400GB of monthly bandwidth but that wouldn't be enough, it'd need to be in the TB region.

It was a superb site & the links/mod downloads were surely irreplaceable. Hope you guys get something sorted out.

Not difficult as most of the content is hosted on places like Filefront, Megaupload, Mediafire, Rapidshare and many many more. It's all still there, just have to go to different places to hear news about new releases but then when someone does it'll be posted or talked about very quickly anyway on here and on other sites.

rFactorcentral was the most dreadfully slow website, I prefer to use PH instead http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Ahh that's a shame!,

Although i do agree the site was painfully slow.

Think im going to download as much content as possible before it goes as it was a great place to find bits.

Nothing is disappearing, it's all still on the download sites. RFC is just a front end to point you to where they are. It's all duplicated on Nogrip, RSC and more websites.

oh aye i understand that,

Just im registered there already so may as well use it whilst i can rather than having to register to multiple sites.

I'm just looking at the possibility of creating something along the same lines with fast uk downloads instead of the slow downloads from millions of other sites.

Hey, FourWheelDrift.

You ever heard of the MOFO League? We're running low on competative numbers. Any chance you'd like to join, or reccomend some people who are worth contacting?

Apparently, all the major moders have said they will not post any of their work on the new site which is taking over from RFC. Best to look at virtualr for mod info anyway.

About the "pay to race mods" thing. Doesnt Race2Play already do this? The basic membership costs money, do the modders get a slice of that?

Talking of mods, have you guys tried out the CART Factor mod?

Seems to be a bit of a storm in a teacup or maybe a change of strategy from Ignite, but now only Ignite's own mods will be pay mods (however they do it)

I don't use Race2Play so have no idea who that works.

CART Factor, downloaded but not yet tried.
