GPL: Urgent Help Required

Hi Guys and Girls, I have recently purchased a copy of GPL Legends together with a new Analogue game pad (Thrustmaster) and I am having one hell of a problem setting it up. I think the Game pad is faulty, when you turn left it does a right turn before it starts to turn left. Also I can't get the car to brake, although a button is assigned and appears to be working. You have no chance of gettin the thing around a corner.
