Make your own game seat

A while ago someone posted up some links to sites showing how you can make your own gaming seats, I think there was a forum posted too, but for the life of me I cannot find anything here or using google.

What with GT5 peeping up on the horizon I want to start planning a setup, I have an old car seat that I want to use.

At the moment just an old DFP, but I'll probably buy a new G27 to go with GT5

A few guys on there have used T slot extruded aluminium to make seats, its all really easy to slot together to make the kind of frame you want.

GT and other racing games are so much more satisfying to play with an proper wheel controller, adding a cockpit to sit in and hold your wheel just makes it all the better!

Thats just it. it's a game. get out on track and enjoy for real life. then your getting more than caviar

Hi,

I made this about 6 years ago, just recently retired it to the loft but when I get more room or a brilliant wheel is released I will get it out again. The xbox360 wheel shown really isn't that good.

Basically its sheet metal folded into 2 c sections with chequer plate tieing it together,Some pipe clamps hold the tube together which makes it adjustable for the perfect position and old metal table legs modified for the tv stand.

Since then I've added a thick foam camping mat, cut up to fit the seat panels

Firstly, some of the software packages we use are simulations and not games.

Secondly it is several orders of magnitude cheaper to use a sim; not to mention almost infinitely safer.

The more realistic the interface is, the more immersive the simulation will be, and this makes it more fun and potentially useful as a sim.

I intend to make a game seat by going to my local breakers yard and buying a nice jaguar XJ40 leather seat and building something around that.

Will need a 12v adapter to get the seat adjuster motors running...

I found the plans on the interweb, the plans used to get sold as part of a kit but the business went bust so the guy just lets people use them for non-commercial use.
