ARMA 2 Released tomorrow (19th June)

Ordered from Play, but probably wont get it till next week with the postal strikes.

Terribly buggy at the moment though, massively demanding and the AI still takes your head off from 500m away...but its all about the sandbox, and being able to do this:

Mine left the Amazon vaults yesterday, it'll fill the gap whilst waiting on flashpoint II and modern warfare II

Once everyone gets used to it, I think this is going to be great. Especially is you use voice comms.

Don't forget to dl the latest patch, v1.02, it allows the blurring effect to be disabled.

I thought it was going to run like a pig however every thing in full and it looks and runs ace! Trying to get back into it, havent played ARMA for a while. Anoyed at the moment as it looks like my gfx card has just killed my sound card

This isn't available on steam until 30th of June. I'm assuming it doesn't need steam to run then if you're already playing it? (Can I transfer it to steam later?)

dosnt need steam and to be fair I really cant see the advantage of it being on steam

umm not sure what to say or what I have done wrong.

installed the game but the graphics look like from a megadrive. IE crap. very blocky. have not done anything to the settings so on defult. the PC's a gaming PC and a week old so runs, COD5 and most new games on unltra settings.

Idea's?

Well I bought it from Game for only 2 quid more than amazon, so hopefully I'll try it out tonight

Looks good so far - the tip about the updated patch was a good call - improved a touch of lag. Son #1 is in boot camp so will have to wait a bit longer for my shot...

Its the problem with the ARMA games to be honest (I have had ARMA2 since german release)

They are buggy as hell

Everything sounds brilliant, sandbox, enhanced physics, dynamic and intelligent AI, great looking, accurate as hell


But gel that all together and unfortunately Bohemia just always fall short (it happed with OP Flash, and ARAMA).... they release the game which is unfortunately a buggy mess unpolished and quite frankly buggy as hell

I am a huge ARMA fan and I love the original OP Flash and ARMA with a passion, this ARMA2 just seems like it is a late beta test

I just hope (and I do hope) that the community or devs get themselves into gear and fix the bugs before too long as the longer it is out in its current state they more people ARMA2 will loose to BF and OP Flash......... Now if OP Flash is released and is very polished in comparison then it will bury ARMA2 Which will be a great shame.

I have deliberately kept away from ARMA2 for a while as I dont want to hate it for its faults...... PR will keep me distracted for a while I hope!

It seems to default to a comparatively low video setting. I've gone 'very high' on the advanced settings and it still works as well but now has a lot better look. Of course, when there is lots going on it'll maybe have to be turned down a tad but give it a try.
