Anybody got it, is it worth buying? I am without anything decent to play on the 360 and this seems about the only good release out for a while.

God yes! It's the best shooter, possibly best game, that I've played all year. A complete surprise for me, having been slightly underwhelmed by the demo. Single player is reminiscent of Saints Row, with lots of odd activities to do (mostly involving huge explosions and bringing buildings down around people's ears.) Multiplayer is great, a bit like a more fun Halo, with some brilliant weapons, combat and levels. Even the local multiplayer is well thought-out - I spent all afternoon playing it with my brother.

You take it in turns to cause as much destruction within a certain set of parameters (number of shots, time limit, weapon type) as possible, and it gets really tactical. You start thinking in terms of physics, trying to bring huge towers falling down in the right direction, so they cut a huge swathe through other buildings, getting you more points.

Fantastic game biggrin

^^^ Wot he said! It's amazing how addictive smashing a multi storey building to the ground with a sledgehammer is smokin

And again, bought it yesterday and it's a fantastic game. I would disagree with the saints row comparison, I thought SR was pretty poor. Visually it looks stunning... Best new game since gta

The demo wwas hard but worth sticking with - the loader at the end makes smashing EVERYTHING easier.

I'll be getting this in a couple of weeks...

The demo was hard?

Hard to become immersed in, hard to take seriously, hard to think of any reason why that particular part of the game might make anyone want to spend a days wages on.

I had Red Faction 1 & 2. I've wasted hours on Red Faction especially the Multiplayer of RF1. Just burying yourself into a hole so as to score that perfect headshot on your friend as they peer inside (or induce an equally spectacular C4 kill).

I downloaded the Demo and was completely dissapointed...

Is the complete game really a gigantic leap forward from the demo? Or just a step in the wrong direction?

It's really, really great fun. I was as cynical as you after I had played the demo – and once you get used to not being able to damage the terrain itself (oh, the heady days of tunneling under the greenhouse in RF1!), you'll forget all about the first 2 games. It's a completely different beast, in terms of scale, gameplay and fun!

Right then... I downloaded the demo and thought it really wasn't very good at all - I completed it on my first go in about 2 mins flat - got in a car, drove straight to the walker, went straight to the truck and that was it.

However I still went and bought it yesterday. Played for about an hour or so lastnight and yes it is very different and lots better than the demo. Did the first demolition mission, took part in some 'Guerilla Action' shoot outs and blew up some strategic buildings. All in all great fun and would recommend it. Diregard the demo.

Multiplayer used to be a hoot - blowing holes in a building with the rocket launcher as your mate runs from room to room trying to escape. wasted sooo many hours on that.

The demo was alright if you didn't just go and do the mission

Hmmm... actually I remember this on the PS2, and I think i remember it being good. Might give it a look. I could do with another game to play for 3 days and never play again.

I bought a PS3 at the weekend (again) and got this. I think i'm getting into it, but i think i'm doing it wrong.

When attacking a heavily guarded EDF building, going in and shooting anything that moves results in a quick death. What are your tactics?

Great physics though.
