Your Favorite FREE game?

When i say free here i dont mean shop-lifting !

..i'm talkin about those free cdroms you get with game mags that have free working games on them - but not game demo's as theyre too short or unplayable.

i'm also talking about the freeware + shareware games you can download off the www.

thats what really got me back into video-games

My favourite free game is Linux: it's huge, updates everyday, you can play it online, has large user groups all around the world, you can modify it; you can add external features, play it in commandline, on a graphical desktop and in 3D with OpenGL; and after all, if you know the rules, you can earn money for a living with it

You get one car and one track, then add 3rd party bits to build it up. Only a basic build, but still it's free.

Live for Speed is free on a Demo, and then only £12 for the full version.

My fave is an RPG known as ToME (used to be called Angband). It takes a while to get into and learn the controls, but it's one of the most addictive single player games ever.
The one downside to it is it has made me get bored of new games (ToME is over 10 years old) very quickly; once your character's deadin ToME, that's it, he's dead - you can't just reload from a previous point and play a hard bit again.
Oh, and the levels are completely random so no 2 games are the same

my favorite free game would have to be planetside, thogh not free for everyone because it was a p2p monthly game but i find my ways around it. dl the game for free and found a bug with the 7 day free trial which i was able to expliot. that game was awesome.
