360/PC. It's an FPS, so I'd say PC, because despite what the fanboiz say, there's nowt to beat mouse/keyboard for zombie+shotgun fun.

i've not played it on pc but can vouch for the very good game play on XB360.

The versus mode is for sure the best.

Demo dissapeared from Xbox Live Marketplace as well !!

Not saying it hasn't happened before, but it's the only demo I have ever seen taken off the Marketplace ?!?! You can still get the PDZ demo for example !!

Had to go and buy it in the end and not dissapointed smile

Best with a few mates though wink

I bought this the day it was released. Love it to bits, such a mindless piece of entertainment.
Must say that after a month or two though it wears a bit thin. Try playing 'Killing Floor' as well. A lot like L4D but more weapons, larger group and waves as opposed to linear storyline.

The L4D demo isn't available any more. Originally to play the demo, you downloaded the whole game before it was released and it was all locked except the first level. This locked completely when the game was released and you had to buy it.

I looked at the killing floor and it looked too focused on making the undead scary than the rest of the graphics imho. is it actually any good then?

I have to say though, I love L4D beacuse the zombies themselves don't actually scare through their appearance. So the adrenaline comes from being in a tight spot from the tactics point of view rather than the horror aspect. But then, I don't like horror genre as whole, evil dead 1 the movie might have had something to do with that when i was a child. smile

Oh and L4D only wears thin if you are doing random groups IMHO, when you have a solid team who know the ins and outs of the level layout and game mechanics it is fun everytime.

Surely it would be the opposite way? If you know the ins and outs, you know what to expect and are prepared to deal with anything, by doing it with random groups you could end up with total chaos and team mates that are constantly ready to leave you for dead...

The problem with total chaos is frustration. Chaos is against the game's design whether you play as infected or survivors.

When you are with people you know and know their gamestyle it's fun for the following reasons:
if against another well rehearsed team: massive challenge and the winning team is often just double or single digits ahead after the whole game.
if against a random collection of internet's idiots: we try to see what's the fewest amount of meters the opposing team can get before getting slaughtered, or the shortest time before the opposing team rage quits in utter frustration and hysteria, so always fun too.

As perfore: it's all IMHO

Ah, in vs mode I'd agree with you, against the AI however, that's a different proposition. Guess I got my wires crossed and just assumed you were talking about the campaign.

Yeah it doesn't matter so much in campaign but i'd stillr ather have pro teammates on my side in the hardcore difficulty mode than strangers who are standing next to you when you are pinned down and try to pistol the hunter off rather than melee...
If it gets too easy we do achievements such as akimbo warrior and untouchables smile

I like playing Campaign mode so far.

I've taken to looking for Advanced or Expert games, too; they seem to attract a more team-minded set of players.

And on Expert, there is always the "Leave the witch alone" factor...

heheh yeah revving up the witch on expert can backfire massively. I only ever cr0wned her once. it was on expert and by accident. every time i tried since i ended up getting floored.

I can't wait for L4D2, I think a wandering witch would be fantastic!

On a different matter.. or a different special infected. I really don't see why people get so overwhelmed with fear when they see a tank. I think the best strategy is to get into an area where there are no movable objects and just shotgun him as a team in the face. Even if someone gets hit once or twice, it's better than kiting him or trying to snipe him off, because the longer it takes the more help he can get from the boomers and other specials and that never ends well.
