my Mesh is very old now. well 4yo and looking at getting a new one.

looking at something I can edit my bullet cam vid's on, the wife can do her shopping and the kids can play there games and I can also do the same. after seeing COD5 zobielevel i would like to get.

So I have no idea what is a good graphics card from ATi to Nvidia.

So looking at these three

Rule of thumb is: it is always cheaper and better to build your own
that way you get only the components you want.

If you dont have anyone to build one for you, you want to make sure you have at least the following:
INTEL L7 CPU (doesnt matter what speed even the slowest one will be plenty)
Ati HD 4890 1GB DDR5 graphics card
DDR3 RAm 4, perferably 6GB

These are all expensive items but like with my last machine, if you buy top end hardware it lasts for years and does not make you feel like you need to upgrade in the first 6 months

Top dog graphics card is currently the GTX 295 (EVGA do a watercooled, factory overclocked one for top performance). It is essentially, two cars pre-sli'd.

it's cheap for what you get and outstanding service. I've been running a PC specialist computer for 2 years now, with out a single fault. The only time it's been turned off is when I've purchased a new graphics card,cleaned the dust out, moved it and it has been spot on.

For me i would say it depends on what resolution you want to game on and what sort of settings. As i prefer games over ultimate processing power i would choose in favor of dropping the i7 and going for something like the 8400 Core 2 Duo. Still tonnes of power for the video stuff, plenty for every game except Crysis, and it leaves alot more money for graphics.
I think that around the figure you mentioned you should be able to get a near top spec gaming card and a good core 2 processor etc. Dont scrimp on a PSU is my only recommendation.
I also use mine for all my Media Centre stuff, so have a blu ray player which have got cheaper and cheaper. Good luck with whatever you get tho, after owning a 4yr old pc they will all feel like rocket ships
