As much as I like the silkiness of the new generation FPS games I still find myself playing BF2 and BF2142. Anyone else still play?

Yep, BF2 on Jolt 4 server, Bouncyhippo.

I'm usually near the bottom of the score table. wink

Big on squad/team work and use of teamspeak so if you are into that, pester me in-game.

I started off playing 2142 then discovered BF2, so I've all unlocks etc for 2142 but still a newbie on BF2 so I'm trying to get more hours in on it.

My name for both is wils0n9870and I always squad up & use teamspeak.

Will add you later

Still have BF2 on my PC here, but not played it for a while.

BF2 with Special Forces, Allied Intent, Mercenaries and the excellent Nations at War mods.

Play 2142 regularly ("Loconinja").

Tried BF2, but got flamed on the first server I joined because it was "no vehicles" and I jumped in a tank. Sort of put me off a bit. :P

Why did they still have a tank?? I've played infantry only servers and there are no vehicles which can be a real pain when they don't think about it and have a huge map.

How do I play BF2 without Gamespy?

When I try to join a multiplayer game I get asked to sign in, but I would rather have a list of servers that I can just join.

Presumably not using Gamespy to join this game is legal as well?

Thanks smile

I didn't install the Gamespy part of it, never use it. Just created an EA Master account then play on multiplayer servers.

Ok, thanks. smile For some reason I thought the sign up was for Gamespy too.

Anyone who plays BF2, email me with your MSN and I'll add you then we can arrange times. I normally play 11pm to 1am.

Used to play a lot but have found of late that it's getting very hit and miss on the servers. Some are great but others are a joke. Two real gripes that I have with it that have never been addressed are bunny hoppers - it's not an Unreal Tournament Frag match ffs! - and the scoring system which isn't weighted towards your team actually winning. I'd like to see double points awarded if your team wins - would encourage much better team play rather than people just racking up points to the detriment of the game (like everyone spawning on the carrier/airfield just so they can get a plane).

Still enjoy playing sniper and going hunting though smile

Should be no problem as long as you have the original CD. You may have to wait while it downloads hundreds of updates before you can play though!
