PSP - Rolling back to an earlier version of firmware

I've borrowed a PSP from a colleague to use on holiday.
It's been hacked to run homebrew apps and there are a few on the Memory Stick.
I'm not interested in any of the ones he has so I bought Resistance Retribution for the PSP to play during my Easter break. However, it upgraded the firmware to 5.03 (i think that was it) and has deleted the games on the memory stick.
I guess he has these stored on his PC so can reload them but will he be able to play them?
If not, could he roll the Firmware back to an earlier version and reinstall his hack ?

As long as it's not the very latest PSP (3000 I think) then they're all 'hackable'. I re-flashed mine at the weekend (mine is a Slim PSP-2003), using a tool battery and memory card that I'd built with all the correct files.

You have taken the PSP from custom firmware to official firmware, and up to 5.xx. i don't think you can do anything with the latest version 5.xx firmware. haven't checked for some time TBH so may be wrong.
If it can be rolled back, as the 1st poster says you will need a pandora memory stick & battery. As you can brick the PSP if you are not sure what you are doing, best tell the guy who's psp it is and offer to get it done again.
The games probably haven't been deleted just that the official firmware won't see them as games.

ETA, I don't think you need to roll back to an earlier firmware, just get custom firmware back on it. Some of the latest custom firmware will update themselves using wifi to do it.

Mine is a later model PSP(Slim) so it was quite easy to install custom firmware, using a Pandora Battery and a custom memory stick.
Have a read of this. It seems you might need a Pandora battery. I'd lend you mine but I think it's a different size. I don't mind posting you a customised memory stick if you promise to post it back, or you can make one yourself easily.

How is that Resistance? I have it here ready to play tomorrow (only one in the office).
Resistance:
Being new to the PSP it took me a little while to get used to just holding it and using the analogue stick (I normally use my DS on the train - waiting for GTA Chinatown Wars to arrive tomorrow).
They've had to convert allot of controls to the PSP from the PS3 version and I'd say they have done it well although on easy, it really is very easy.
You use the PSP buttons (X, Triangle, O, Square) to turn and look up and down and use the analogue stick for movement.
I thought the graphics were superb and the story (all be it a bit pants with the most ridiculous English voiceovers) holds the game together well.
I'm only a couple of levels in and it's playing quite well, that said the loading time is quite long (I reckon it must take nigh-on 5 minutes to start from PSP start up to firing the first bullet).
I paid £24.99 for it from GAME but it's £17.99 on Play.com. It's worth £18 all day long.
Not sure how long the game is but as long as it gets me through 3 days at a health spa with the wife, then it will have served it's purpose.
