Hi all,

Just moved house and now have to run my PS3 online wirelessly. Have paired the PS3 with my Orange Livebox hub and it finds it ok.

However, when I then test the connection it times out before it can find the IP address. Therefore, according to the the PS3 I am connected but cannot actually connect to the PS3 network.

Any ideas what the problem is? Signal strength is ok at around 65%.

Does the Livebox need you to push a pairing button before you initially connect? My old one did and I think it added the mac address of the PS3 to the access control list. If I didn't then I could connect but not get anywhere.

Also, does the PS3 get an ip?

Hi Tycho,

Yeah, I pressed the pairing button and the PS3 found the Livebox. I go through the whole setup stage in network settings but then when I try and test the connection it times out before it finds the IP address....

First point- I can't exactly remember so this may be useless.

2nd point- I have a PSIII and Livebox and had exactly the same issue as you at first. Now here is the annoying bit. I can't for the life of me remember what I did to sort it out.

However, I seem to remember trying in vain to set the PS Settings up myself and doing all sorts of Settings and Tests etc only to realise that you can hit the Pair Button on the Livebox AND hit the Automatic Pairing on the PS and it worked straight away.

So if you haven't given that a go try that. They should see each other and sort it all out. They both have a Pairing button/ setting.

Good Luck

I would do it like this...

  • Go to the Network Settings in PS3
  • Hit the Pairing Button on the Livebox
  • Then let the PS3 do 'Auto Settings'
That should sort itself out.

Don't put any input into the Network Connections yourself.

If you are still stuck I will have a look for you later in the week and see what my Settings are?

Cheers buddy, I will give it a go but would be great if I could know your settings. Otherwise I might go down the Comtrend power adaptor route.
