Internet on Wii is it worthwhile??

For a couple of credits you can buy the Opera-based internet browser for the Wii, which lets you watch iPlayer (in dramatically reduced but still watchable quality). The Wii browser doesn't support the latest version of flash so the iPlayer has to stream in a lower quality than you can receive on your compybox. Good for if you have a few mates round and want something on, bad if you want to perv over the latest lambo on Top Gear.
The Wii Shop is pretty good, allowing you to buy old titles from many systems (all the old Nintendo systems are represented with at least a few games, as are Sega Master System/Mega Drive, Neo Geo and something else I can't remember). Buying stuff requires credits, and to play some games you'll need the Wii Classic Controller, but some support old Gamecube controllers if you have them sitting around. The "musac" in the shop is awesome too imho
I haven't turned my Wii on in months, but when I do, it's a good laugh playing old NES/SNES Mario games and original Mario Kart! It's relatively easy to set up if you follow the instruction manual, so do it, buy yourself a Wii points card and grab a few classic titles.

Oh also, in terms of playing online with your mates, it's a right sod. Instead of having nicknames like on XBL, you have a 12 (or is it 16?) digit "friend code" which you will never, ever remember unless you're some kind of Mensa person. The console does support email, so if you can technically acheive some sort of communication between consoles without using the friend codes, but it's not very easy to use/understand IMHO.
In my experience, the online matchmaking is crude/slow at best compared to XBL, and when you do get online there isn't any communication between you and your fellow players (no headsets for hurling abuse here). There are some neat ways to compare yourself to other players (mostly game dependent, the new Mario Kart game has very interesting ways to compare your results to the rest of the world) but the time spent actually getting to the races rendered it null and void to me.
It is free though, unlike XBL, so I guess you get what you pay for.

It would be much better if it were HD, but to read text on the wii when your on the internet it a pain in the arse, you'll have to zoom it a few levels so its not so blocky.
The PS3 does a good job of being a console internet browser, but then you'd have to buy a PS3
The Xbox really should have a fully fledged version on internet explorer on its system.
