Morning all,
I need to get another 12 months on my XBOX Live Gold subscription but a mate of mine has told me to just go for the 3 month one as, according to him, XBOX Live Gold is going to be free from March '09 onwards.
Personally, I think Microsoft is about as likely to bin this cash-cow as I am to get Angeline Jolie to scrub my undercrackers AND I'm pretty sure this story has been doing the rounds for years... "Oh yeah it's definitely going to be free because the PS3 is kicking their arse"... etc, etc.
So, boll*cks or not?

k off a lot of diehards if their subscriptions were suddenly worthless so there would be some sort of refund I'm sure.Unlikely I'd say - I think the consoles are sold, like razors and printers, at little to low margin or more likely a slight loss, so they make that up with the other revenue streams, Live, accessories, licensing to devlopers etc.
I think it's more that the Wii is kicking both Sony and Microsofts behind, and get the feel the 360 asked the PS3 to step outside and gave it a slight thrubbing.
Not sure when the PS3 will accuse the 360 of 'looking at my bird' - but it might happen and this time the 360 could get some slappage.
