This does look seriously interesting - at last a proper sim based NFS game rather than the urban/gangsta/chav/mofo/ricer junk we've had in the recent past. It's apparently being developed by the chaps that did GTR2, GT Legends and M3 challenge so could be good. etc.

The screenshot looks great, if they put in the same attention to detail into the physics as the graphics, the sim crowd should be pleased.

One of the NFS games that I did think was very good though was Porsche 2000, or Porsche Unleashed, it was essentially NFS 5. I loved the handling on some of those cars, I seem to remember the '78 3.3 Turbo being particularly fun to drive.

Great!

Loved NFS1, NFS2 was great for driving normal cars with the cheats, NF3 OK....then I lost interest.

Need for Speed 5 was the best, brings back great memories for me! The tracks like Corsica, Alps, Autobahn, and all the cars! I was only about 9 when it came out, so it taught me about the history of Porsche, brilliant game.

All st bar the porsche unleashed, that was fantastic.

Still got it somewhere, people modded it so i remember having the Moby dick, which was fun through the Alps. I rember being excited about being able to use indicators.

Great game that was.

Perhaps they're realising that there's a large group of gamers (namely us) that would buy more games if they were more simulation than arcade.

I always remember getting NFS1 as a kid. I was scared of breaking my PC as it was brand new, and didn't know much about them.

It took me around an hour to start a game as I was scared the word Drive! (Which you clicked to start the race on main menu) was something to do with the C: or hard drive. boxedin

I played them all, but being a kid I hated Porsche Unleashed. I wanted ferraris too! Now grown up and realised my errors......

Don't they always say this though? "Sorry, that last game we released was totally cack and arcadey, but this time its going to be great, just like a sim and everything. Honest!" And then you buy it and it is just absolute junk. I am of the opinion that they have had enough chances, blown them all by releasing cack aimed at 12 yr old kids and thus should be exiled somewhere remote to self flaggelate for eternity. Be good if they got some proper developers involved though, give those trained chimps a break.
