This weeks toy..er..I mean 'gadget'

I saw this in HMV at the weekend, a handheld Sega Mega Drive, complete with 20 built in games. It was only 30 quid so I grabbed one.



For the money it's great, it actually has some decent games (Shinobi 3, Sonic & Knuckles, Dr Robotniks Mean Bean Machine, Eswat, Crackdown, Ecco etc) plus you ccan plug it into the TV (even comes with the cable).

For 30 quid it was a bargain. It's rather small, size comparison:

Saw them when I was in town on Saturday. I was tempted, but £30 seemed a bit much for what is essentially very old code. Or am I just being miserable 'cos I didn't have a Mega Drive first time round?

Looks cool, but I'm going to wait for the Mega-Drive Mega-Pack for the XBox360. It's going to have about 40 games, including all the Sonics, Streets Of Rage, Shinobi, etc, and should be £25.

Ah, the days when Sega were top of the game.........

Seemed decent to me, it's less than the cost of a current game, it has a nice screen and AV out. The games are old but still very playable.

But then I do like retro gaming and collect old handheld consoles!

No, there's no way to do that.

Or if you have a Nintendo DS/Sony PSP you can get the emulators for all previous consoles that the handheld is powerful enough to emulate, download all roms ever for said consoles for free and enjoy

You will require an R4 card for the DS to put the emulators on, costs about £20 with 2GB of memory storage.

Or go on your old Megadrive

I have a DS with a Cyclo card and 8gb flash, but my experience with emulators on it isn't great, a lot of them are quite buggy (SNEmul for example won't play a lot of games).
