PS3 & Mobile broadband dongle

My Apologies if its been covered before, I have tried the search facility and couldnt find a thing, I've also checked the PS3 forums and couldnt find a straight answer. Anyway here goes.

I have T-Mobile, mobile broadband, after recently moving into an apartment with no land line, I refuse to pay for one to be put in as I am only living in the place for 12 months, so my question is, can I get online with my PS3 via the mobile dongle either using the USB on the PS3 or via laptop, please help the withdrawal from COD4 is getting worse!!!

You probably could get online by plugging the dongle into a PC and sharing the connection. I doubt the PS3 would recognise the dongle directly. You wouldn't be able to game very well as all the mobile 3G services have terrible latency (ie high ping rates) so you would be lagging badly on games like COD4.

Yes, as long as your network provider don't block the various gaming ports.
It will be laggy as hell, and almost unplayable.

You would need to plug it into a PC and use the PC as an access point, the PS3 won't have the drivers to know how to use the dongle.

As mentioned it will not be playable in any way, mobile broadband doesn't work the same way as land connections. It's landline or nothing I'm afraid.

if you want to play online and are there for 12 months then probably worth paying for the phone line connection.

Thanks for the info guys, I think I need to make some enquiries about getting a land line installed then, oh well, the advice is much appreciated anyway as all the info you read on other forums just contradicts the last post and is always a waste of time.
