Is the ps3 likely to have a big price drop before easter? Will there be a budget version released with less storage?

I played little big planet over xmas and was smitten, this coupled with gt5 means i'm considering a purchase at £280 ish (amazon lbp bundle). This does seem like a massive extravagence when I already have the 360, so trying to work out if there is a price drop on the cards..

I heard a rumor that there is no price cut for the forseeable future due to changing exchange rates etc.

Buy now, every time. Every piece of electronic equipment will get faster, cheaper, bigger, better all the time, and if you're always waiting for the next thing then you'll never buy anything. Buy it now and enjoy it.

Ok thanks fairly conclusive smile

Just so hard to justify what is effectively £150 for GT5p and £150 for LBP. As much as I loved the latter smile blue ray more of a nice extra than a necessity.

Think I'll probably go for it, if so is the Amazon deal £280 for LBP pack clicky about as cheap as it gets? Any good deals in supermarkets/high street anyone knows of?

I did hear that sony were putting they're prices up next year (maybe on tv's not necessarily PS3's) due to a fall in demand in the last few months

I bought mine a few weeks ago from toys r us £275 inc lbp and motorstorm, I'm not much for motorstorm but lbp is genius. Resistance 2 is quality too.

I've been hammering the console over xmas, best thing i've bought for ages

Don't look on it as a set amount of money per game, just look at it as the piece of hardware you're getting for ~300 notes. Blue ray player with a games console, plus media station with hard disk and wireless built in, with the added bonus of some corking games (GT5:P, Wipeout HD, Resistance 2, LittleBigPlanet, Motorstorm 2, etc) already out. Add in the prospect of games like Killzone 2 and GT 5, the PS3 really isnt that expensive at all.

Couple of weeks ago I took the plunge and bought a PS3 160GB from Curry's for £342.00. It came with four downloadable games including GT5P. Thought that was good value when I reserved it online. Even better when I turned up to collect it and found it also came with three free games incl. FIFA 09!!

I had been hanging on waiting for a price cut (which hsn't materialised as yet). But couldn't resist this deal!
