No.

Only the very first 60gtb uk machince are backwards compatible. Some of the American 80gb machinces were but as far as the latest spec 80gb (which I'm assuming you are refering to) the answer is no.


(although there is a rumour they are working on a software workaround patch update at the moment)

It'll play a large number of PS1 games though (if you fancy some retro gaming)

My lad is a bit dissapointed ,he had finished "Call of Duty 4 by 6.30pm and wanted to have a go on his old games.A sales assistant at Game Station in Newark told my wife the 80 would play PS2 games so we bought it on that basis,but from ASDA in Spondon so we cant exactly complain to them.
Will look out for the software upgrades
