Ok, so I have had my X-Box 360 for quite a while now.

Already had one replacement brand new consol (think I am now out of warantee, but not 100% certain).

I have heard about the dreaded 3 red lights, and have been pleased not to experience such a thing...

until today when i turned it on and all that happened was those 3 red lights were displayed, so of course, I was thinking for fks sake.

anyway a quick unplug and re-plug of the power lead seemed to solve this issue... for now.

I havnt played it, nor will i until I get some advice, but is there anything I can do to try and stop this happening (maybe vacuum out the dust) - anything at all??

Cheers for any replies

How old is it?

Get in touch with MS via the Xbox website and they'll pick it up for you, fix it and drop it back free of charge. MS extended the warranty for RROD failures to 3 years I believe.

Never had to use it myself fortunately, but theres been plenty of mention of it on here.

www.xbox.com > Support > Registration & Repair looks about right.

You may think it is ok now but it WILL happen again. Maybe in the next few days, maybe months but it will happen again. Get it to MS ASAP.

Yeah mine had it back in March/April time. Restarted and worked fine. Few days later it happened, restarted fine. Then it finally wouldn't work by restarting so off it went to Germany to be repaired.

I just hope you can remember what email you used to register it when new. I couldn't, and with all the hassle of having to find and then get the purchase receipt approved by them, I've been without mine for close on a month now...

when mine broke recently i took it back to the shop they replaced my 20gb with a 60gb one as they dont make the 20gb ones anymore. You should always take stuff back to the retailer not the manufacturer.

I would do it my self tbh, feck the warrenty... just for the simple fact, there was this gamer that had his xbox360 case signed by big named gamers.

He got the rrod and sent it back to microsoft, they only clean his xbox whilest they were at it smile

I wouldnt want any of them muppets on my console!!! if i get a problem with my pc i fix it my self, and im sure others do to. Xbox is just the same!

It's not that they just sent a reconditioned one like they do to everybody else that sends a broken one in then ??

Maybe not, mine did it years ago, its been great since, its on for hours everyday.

I think the cable wasn't in correctly, as I had just moved it before it happened.
