So... yesterday i was having an argument with a guy in the office. He was trying to tell me that the PS3 was FAR more popular than the XBOX 360 and i (of course) disagreed. There was an awful lot of office bu*****t figures thrown around and we agreed the only way to solve the argument was to post a thread on here and ask your opinion...

So! What do you have?
WHY anybody wouldn't have a XBOX360 when GOW2 is THAT good is beyond me!

All three, but here isn't going to be the best place to survey as the XBox crowd seems to outnumber the PS3.

Had a 360 from launch, had it 2months was sent to MS twice for problems, Sold it was disapointed, Also owned a modded WII, got sick of that to, do the same thing for most games & gets boring, maybe ok if i was 10 year old, very poor for a next Gen console, The ps3 when bought i knew had great potential, Slow start with not many games etc, now, think its a fantastic machine and lives up to the next gen saying, Rather play my SNES , Dreamcast, than the WII too' Oo Crazy Taxi, hell yeah

I have a ps1 and a ps2

at Easter i was stuck at the inlaws, we went out for a walk and I ended up buying a wII, great fun.

I was holding out for a ps3, I was going to get one when gta4 came out. then gta4 was delayed and i didnt bother...

then ms dropped the price of the 360 and I ended up buying one of those... as I needed to test the xbox wheel with out racing simulator as the ps3 can use the g25..

the thing that annoys me most about the 360 is 50 quid for a wireless card ( so i dont have one and havent tried online) and the fact it doesnt hold the time and date so its a pain workingout which save is which !!!!

I never understand why people bang on about the problem of a wireless adaptor costing £50. If you are in to your online gaming you wouldn't want a wireless connection as it's not as stable as wired. If I had a ps3 I would wire that in too.

Bearing in mind the release dates is all well and good, but the 360 is still outselling the PS3 in Europe and the States. They desperately need to drop the price.

It's quite gimicky though, looks good for about 20 minutes then you get bored with it, imho. A better measure of popularity is attach rate (number of games per console sold), which i believe the Wii has the lowest, with the 360 on top.

It holds the date and time as long as it's not unplugged. As with most things that run on electricity and don't have an internal battery, it will loose the settings if no power.

It does automatically update if you connect to live though.

Are you unplugging your 360 from the power supply when you're not using it?

My PS3 wireless connection is just as good as my wired connection.

£39.99 for 12 months Live if from Xbox, £34.99 from Play or £24.99 if you have a quick look around on line.

So to me, even if it were the full price, I still think it's cheap for a years online gaming. WoW players pay £8.99 A MONTH for the privledge of playing one game !!!

From what I have heard from some PS3 owning friends, it is not a touch online compared to the 360 and the 360 would still be better value if it cost double.

You only have to buy an HD for the Xbox if you have the 'Arcade' version (this comes with a memory card), and only then if you want one. All other versions come with an HD.

Like for like, PS3 and Xbox usually come out around the same in price (possibly discounting the wireless adaptor). Although not like for like when it comes to quality and quantity of games, the 360 romps it in that department winkgetmecoat

You forgot to add on the price of a separate blu-ray player to get the same level of functionality. The 360 is good and I might get one if prices continue to fall, but for an all in one package the PS3 is difficult to beat. All the problems with the number of games and the (free) online system can be addressed.

actually, it is as stable as the wired connection - im very impressed with it... (been using it for years..)

oh, and i have all 3 - but TBH the xbox gets the most use as a games machine - the PS3 as a blu ray and the Wii as a alcohol fuelled bit of fun wink
