I redoing various bits of the game at the moment, and need a little help in understanding car setups i.e. camber, toe etc, etc. Being that I know jack about this, is their anybody around who could help or point me to a good website which could introduce the layman to setting up a car for the track.
I'm currently running at around 223 out of 475000 (this was by downloading someone else’s setup) on the VW manufacturers series. I only need another 0.3sec to get in top 200!
Any help would be great thanks in advance guys.

I found this if you aren't bothered about taking the lazy route http://www.ondaground.net/flash/fm2/ seems to work quite well

What series is this, and is there anywhere I can find out the times? I'm not on Xbox live but I'd like to see how I compare!

Manufacturers... VW...Maple Valley Short.
My times about 2:32.3 mins for 4 laps. Top 200 is 0.3 secs difference to myself. Will check and verify overnight.
Hope that helps Lord Croker

Wouldn't it be easier to shave 0.3 second off a lap by learning the track better?! hehe

I'm only saying this as every time I tune a car it goes slower..

Stumpyalan might be along shortly, he will be able to shed a bit more light on this subject than I will! biggrin

Thinking about this 0.3secs, if i were to use a steering wheel instead of the pad, i may be able to gain this. All the best times, i think use a wheel as smoother round corners than a pad. Any thoughts.
Forgot to mention car.. running a VW golf Mk5 upgraded to U999. But all top leaders are either the Mk5 or the R32

IMO, once you get used to the wheel it's a sure fire way to trim some time of those laps. Couldn't tell you why, more than likely its got something to do with smoother cornering as you said but also (especialy in higher powered cars) the pedal allows you to use the throttle as more of a valve that a switch, so there may be a bit of that in there too.

I've also found that Maple Valley is a track that I can't do at all, but from listening to some more experienced guys I think that it is a track that is won or lost purely on that uphill right hander towards the end. A fair few seconds, nevermind milliseconds, can be won or lost there so my only peice of advice I can offer is to work out how to get that corner nailed!

In regards to the car, well.. no idea really! laugh

Best of luck, thumbup

Put 'Forza tuning' or 'forza calculator' etc into google and you will find all sorts of links which can do semi decent setups for you.

Just one example...

http://www.croisened.com/

It's a good way to start anyway.

I tried two of these Setup guides last night to no avail. I think i need to get my head down into some books/internet and start reading up about settings. Thanks for your advice all

Hi Lord Croker, I aim to get very low 37secs on first lap, second is normally around 1-1.5secs better after that it's a blur as trying to get best lines. Hope this helps.

I had an idea!! I've turned off simulation tyres and fuel and now in top 100. I can now leave well alone as it was starting to become an obsession.
