I currently have my 360 hooked up to my LCD via VGA. Now i'm wanting to not have to mess about changing the cables etc every time i want to watch a film off my media center.

My TV does not have a HDMI input but has VGA and DVI. Seeing as my media center does not like running through DVI for some reason but works very well through VGA i was wondering if the HDMI - DVI cables that are for sale online will work with the Xbox?

Yes it should do, another option is a VGA switch box that will allow you to toggle between two VGA inputs.

I looked at a switch box / KVM but to do that it means getting off my arse and switching it, which is nearly as much effort of changing the inputs!

I would check to see if your TV is HDCP compliant then, it will need to be able to unlock the copyright signal transmitted via HDMI in order for the HDMI>DVI convertor to work, otherwise there is a chance you'll see no picture at all.
