Gaaah. xbox360 ring of death
Discussion
I would've searched but it's broken
Got in tonight and the xbox has gone pop. Literally, and now the three red rings are flashing away merrily. I've gone through the MSFT support site and am now at the getting it fixed stage.
Does anyone have experience of the MSFT "we'll fix your xbox for you" process? Specifically, how long does it take to (a) pick it up and (b) return it?
Ta!

RROD is the reason I bought my console from GAME.
Last time I had it, I wandered into GAME at lunch and walked out with a brand new console.
Turnaround - 30mins
30 minutes to walk into a store, hand over a console, and receive a new one?Last time I had it, I wandered into GAME at lunch and walked out with a brand new console.

Christ, the spotty virgins they have working in your GAME store must be especially slow!
...

Had 4 360's so far, latest one lasting the longest since the first.
Depending on the time of year it seems it can be longer or shorter, summer holidays etc being bad. Best for me was 6 days (if you dont count the infuriating discussion with the least helpful courier in the world about when he could come!) and worst was a month. On their phone lines they often state how many days they are working at while you are in the queue. Also they often wait for a few boxes to accumulate before despatch.
Good news is Ive not had the same box back yet and neither have mates on xbox live. My most recent box is a late edition and has been fine. There have been a few changes that seem to have worked.
So its into a cardboard coffin and off the MS's graveyard for it! I used a helmet box stuffed with newspapers first time. By the 3rd time I was keeping the box MS sent it back in
