Are there any decent 'light' strategy games for the 360? I used to enjoy C&C Red Alert on the PC so anything similar would be good. I've seen some C&C titles for the 360, are they any good and how well have the controls been thought about for the joy pad?

Any advice will be appreciated, I enjoy shooting people in the face as much as the next person on COD 4 and GTA:IV but am feeling the need for something more slow paced to get stuck into.

C&C on the 360 is supposed to work pretty well with the pad, I'm sure you can pick it up pretty cheap by now too.

Civilisation has just appeared in 360 incarnation. Not sure that fits what you mean by "strategy" game but it's got to be worth a look if you're not necessarily after a C&C type RTS game.

I've got C&C Tibrium Wars (latest one) on the PC and it's very good, I know it is also on the 360 for about £20 now I think.

Someone I know has got the New C&C:Kanes Wrath, and he says it is so good.. He's also got that Civilisation game and says thats really good too.

I'm sure you could get the C&C for quite cheap too.

I can't get the hang of the control pad system at all. Way too fiddly.

I have LOTR BFMEII

It almost works. Has all the elements but the control isnt precice enough and atomic enough.

I can never seem to be able to direct my units agaist the right enemy units etc, no order queues or standing commands in pitch battles.

So it ends up being a total utter zergfest. Select everything, atack enemy. I HATE that. If only there was some way to pause and issue unit level commands or something.

Thanks for the replies. I'm quite interested in the C&C games, is there a mouse available for the 360 and if so, do any of these games support it?

Cheers

The XFS thing for the Xbox360 is meant to be bloody awful (for FPS at least, don't know about RTS); was reading up on their version for the PS3 yesterday, and the number of derogatory comments about the sniper v3.0 was enormous - a fair few people bought it, tried it for a few days and sold it on.

I bought a similar thing for Halo 2 on the original XBox and it wasn't great, most of the games are designed with acceleration built in to compensate for the analogue movement of the stick on a pad, whereas when you map that same thing to a mouse which is more of a linear thing it doesn't translate so well.

Theres a demo of Command & Conquer available on xbox live, give it a try, its a better guide than other peoples opinions.

For what its worth I like the C&C games on the 360, the controls are fairly straight forward once you get used to them, theres a training mode that takes you through the basics which is well worth doing before jumping straight into the full game.
