PS3 - compatible media formats
Discussion
Hi all, I have been contemplating getting an external hard drive to load up with films, music, photos etc from my PC, and then connect it to my PS3 downstairs and watch it all back on the big plasma screen in the living room.
I put a load of files on a USB stick, and plugged that into the PS3, just to see what would be recognised and what wouldn't, and it didn't seem to want to play anything at all!
I had a mixture of avi, wmv, mpeg, mpg (is there a difference between mpeg and mpg?) and jpgs, and it would not recognise a single file! What am I doing wrong?

did the files actually show up and just not play or were none of the files even shown?
If it was the latter make sure you have you video files in a folder called "VIDEO". Or you should be able to press Triangle when on the USB device icon and choose "Display All" to see the who USB stick.
