Was dabbling with Second Life? Anyone have a character on it?
It just seems like a pub where you can talk to people who you find have no common interests and there is no alcohol. Can anyone explain why I should play it? Am I missing something? I mean, I am interested in cars, so I use PH, for instance...

Basically it is a 3D version of IRC but still partly playes by MMORPG (mostly men online role playing girls) rules
Ohhhhh, that explains why every girl I meet is either bisexual or a lesbian.
Yeah, that pretty much is it. But it can be a laugh. Building / creating stuff is fun too, and because of the fairly strong Digital Rights Management in SL you can make money by selling things like that.

Apparently there are ways to earn in-game cash but I've not worked it out
Pretty much sell stuff, win stuff or get a job. The former gets the steady income as your shop can sell stuff in your absence, but there are a lot of very talented content creators around. And a job means you have to spend a lot of time in game. And when you consider that a few hours' work might only gain you the equivalent of £1 it's better to just buy Linden Dollars with real ££.
