PS3 HDMI Problem
Discussion
Hi there
I got my PS3 yesterday and was looking forward to a bit of GT5 prologue but I can't get my PS3 to work with my Sony Bravia over HDMI
As soon as I try to connect I just get a blank screen.
I've got it going over scart but the graphics are quite disappointing in sd and really want to get it going in HDMI.
Anyone know a fix for it...
Cheers

Thanks for the replies - I will remove the scart lead and reboot and see what happens. Otherwise its the 5 sec trick to get it into set up mode.
What's really odd is that the TV claims not to be able to see the PS3 in HDMI set up yet the PS3 sees the TV. I was messing with this for about 2 hours last night before I gave up and went for scart!
Looks like another night of headscratching ahead!

The long reset should work. I have often taken my PS3 somewhere where I need a composite input, but it's set to HDMI and vice versa.
However, one word of caution. The first time I did this I switched it on at a friends house and wondered why it didn't come up via scart. Realising it won't automatically switch to the input being used, I did the long reset.
Big mistake. The PS3 gave me a blue screen on reboot and then rebuilt itself, from scratch. I ended up with "User1" as the only user. My profile had gone, and I couldn't play any of the downloaded games. I needed to set up my profile again and reactivate all the games through the store, using up one of my permitted "downloads" because as far as it was concerned I was a different user.
All I can think of is that I must have done a long reset whilst it was doing something. It's not happened since.

Sorted - TV claims it detects and automatically switches to HDMI but it doesn't.
So what did I do:
1. Plug in both the scart and the HDMI leads
2. Select the AV channel that the scart is plugged into
3. When promted select the HDMI option on PS3 start up screen - you get the blank screen at this point
4. Manually switch the TV to the AV channel that the HDMI is plugged into
5. Select resolution
6. Play PS3 in HD
