IGN have announced that Rock Band will be coming to the 360 on 23rd May, PS3, PS2 and Wii owners will have to wait until later in the summer.

We get 8 extra songs from the American release and all the downloadable songs will be available straight away for us.

Price? £130 just for the instrument pack, 1 wireless guitar, 1 microphone, 1 Drum Kit. You'll then need another £40 for the game itself! Songs are all available for 160MS points each, so if you want everything that's available you're looking at a cool £330.

Full story is here:

Myself? I'll stick with my guitar hero guitar and just buy the game on it's own, let my rich mate by the full pack and head over to his when I want the full fat experience.

I think it might work out cheaper if you import it from the US :P

Also I read something about the new PS3 hardware not being able to play the game straight out of the box. The game needs three usb ports to play but the 40gig PS3 only has two. However the 360 Rock Band also ships with a usb hub (even though the 360s got three usb slots) but the PS3 version does not.

Might work out cheaper importing the peripherals, but the game won't work here, and I'm not chipping my 360.

Probably work out cheaper buying a guitar/bass/drums, having lessons and joining a real band. You might even make a return on your investment...smile

Real band? Pfft... That won't impress the ladies anywhere near as much as my plastic guitar and rock-god posturing.

One of my friends has had it for ages and it seems fine he just bought it on holiday in NY. Assume its a UK console though.

Its a good game but looks like it only really works when youve got a group of people. Dont think id pay that much for it though.

It won't be a UK console, unless he's had it chipped. It's an EA game and all EA games are region locked unfortunately, otherwise I'd have it already.

Yeah you're right, my girlfriend's sister is currently out in the states, where you can buy the lot for £85, she's going to see how much it is to ship it back to us.

wonder how this will compare to the likes of Sing Star for single players

Well as it's been out in America for months you could check out what they think:

http://uk.gamespot.com/xbox360/puzzle/rockband/ind...

Singstar you can play by simply humming to the tune, Rock Band is more sophisticated in that it will pickup on much more detail from your voice, so even if you want it just as a karaoke sim then it's already better, throw in the instruments and you're onto a surefire hit.
