360 AGAINST A PS3?
Discussion
Have been playing my 360 for ages now & as usual mainly on Driving Games Forza2 PGR4 etc, but is it worth chopping in against a PS3 to get GT5? Does anyone know how much i'm klikely to get for a px deal? Cant be bother with ebay or trying to sell the 360 yet until i know a ps3 is the right way to go.

this is all ive heard for i dont know how long , just because people have a 360 they say forza is better, gt5 has just come out so how do you know
I have both. I feel the GT5 cars "float" on the track and the physics dont feel as good. The controller isn't as good either. Plus the obvious one, Forza 2 is a full game with a lot more cars and tracks - therefore more depth. Definitely not worth buying a PS3 just for GT5 prologue.

i've played on gt5 at the classic car show last year and like all the other gt games the cars dont really handle and theres no in car views
i think pgr4 is the best car game out atm
You played the old GT:HD Demo then, the cars handle better now and there's a great in-car view too.i think pgr4 is the best car game out atm
There seem's to be a theme running through most of the post's regarding which is the better game. The people that only own a 360 saying forza is the better and the people that only own a PS3 saying GT5 is the better. That's an argument that will just keep on going and going and going. But owning and playing both game's (not a quick lap around the London track in Blockbuster last night then thinking i'm an expert) i'm sorry to say it to the 360 only owner's but GT5 is the better game. Don't get me wrong forza has some nice touches the paint shop editor (covering car's with swastika's and female genatalia if the auction house is anything to go by) and the tuning side of the game (260mph in a MK1 GT40 anyone) are indeed very good, but it's just not enough.

Ain't that the truth. I'm in love with this view, never really been a fan of in car view on racing games before. Can't believe I'm on the verge of shelling out for a G25 on whats basically a very extended demo/fan pleaser and this view alone. Be interested to hear if any of you have played it with the G25, does it work as well as I think it will?
So are you going to take the plunge and give it a try Steve? mate of mine said he got it for £15 from our local Blockbuster this morning, don't shoot me if thats wrong though.

As for the in-car view, I'd never been a fan at all until PGR3 arrived, tried it for a couple of minutes outside the car like I used to, then tried it in-car and couldn't go back after that, I can't play Forza with the bumper cam though, I have no perspective of what the car is doing like that, so I have to play that with the chase cam, this is a big plus that GT has over Forza for me.

I think there at least 3 or 4 of us here now who have both and prefer the solid and more stable feel of the Forza cars though?Hunting around the net reveals others saying the same too, but then other people will swear the opposite is true, it just depends what you prefer.I'm sure some people will be praising prologue more at the moment simply because it's new and fresh too.Having played almost ever racing game invented i think, from night driver on the atari VCS to all the console and PC sim titles, all i can add is that personally i find Forza 2 an easier game to play and drive quickly due to the cars having more weight and feel to them.I find it quite impressive just how different the cars feel.In prologue, the Audi TT feels just the same as the type r etc, it just doesn't seem to matter what i drive, the difference seems mostly dashboard/skin and noise related as they all float about nose diving everywhere - at least at this stage they do anyway.I have loved all of the turismo games to date though, so i'm no forza fan boy, (and for the record i really didn't like Forza 1), but they were all way too easy to drive imho, so i am glad to see prologue seems to make progress harder, more twitchy and less comfortable with all assists off - it's just a shame the way it goes about it. They are both great games to play still however, just totaly different in feel.
I'm guessing a lot could also depend on how you play too, was it you who mentioned that you only had to touch the joypad or wheel in Forza and you were off?, yet i never ever find that to be the case, nor do any other players i see regularly, not even with RWD monsters.Clipping the grass etc when on the limit may cause some problems of course, but nothing a bit of opposite lock doesn't fix.In total contrast, Prologue is the game i find myself leaving the track with now and again, firstly because the tyres just screech (and my God, what a crap noise it is!) under almost any circumstance at any speed so do nothing to convey what is happening, and secondly because no matter what the car is doing, it just feels like it's riding on shagged out granada Mk1 shocks. In Forza, if i have an off, it's because i pushed too hard or got a clip point totaly wrong etc and i am always aware of when it is going to happen, in prologue i don't really know what i did wrong or what is about to happen as there are not enough of my gamer senses being talked to so to speak. That's not to say i don't still enjoy the prologue experience mind, but i just wish it had Forzas feel.Cars are quite heavy after all.
Then there are the graphics of course, a huge talking point for some and the cars and general apperance is nicer in Prologue for sure, but possibly due to the paint options forza has and the fact it's an older console? Many are saying that some of the enviroments and tracks are nicer on Forza but the cars are better on the PS3...example below..
http://gameplanets.blogspot.com/2007/10/gt5-vs-for...
Either way, they both look great to me on a nice TV so people who pause the game and study cloud formations, light angles and blades of grass simply need to get out more
The in car view is lovely on prologue though, as is the rear view from the cockpit, but i tend to only race in bumper cam view so i shall have to see if it grows on me.No idea what the external race views are like as i find it impossible to race any game like that.At the end of the day, you have two great games here, one of which has an army of fans and has been around the block many times and one which is offering a taster of something that is a long way off yet, so who knows how turismo will really end up.I will still be buying it no matter what.Even if all of its negative points remain in the full version, i will still be buying it.It's a great car racing game after all, one that tries to convey some realism, and that's good enough for me.
The only thing you can be sure of is that the tit-for-tat arguments will carry on and on and on.It's fanboy heaven out there currently, the amount of utter dribble being banded around by such people over these games is the worst i have ever seen tbh.
I mean, how laughable is it for example for PS3/Turismo fanatics to utterly s
g off the damage elements of Forza (i agree they aint that realistic in terms of body/car damage at high speed - but races can at least be won and lost due to it) and then PRAISE the turismo creators for not including it in their game because it would need to be much better than Forza's efforts.Huh?!! In another clip, some idiot suggests it's all very well Forza allowing you to paint your cars, but "you end up with the crappiest looking cars" and he then shows 2 pictures (yes, just two out of the millions available), one of a pants Mr2 and another of an old merc with a racist comment on it.Oh dear. You don't have to look very hard to dig up similar stupidity from Xbox owners either of course.I just wish everyone who enjoys games could accept that the games are different, people are different - one mans meat and all that. There isn't a winner and loser here or better/worse as such, at least not in the same way as there would be if someone asked which was the better sim, GPL or mario kart. The winner for me will be the one that keeps me hooked the longest i guess and i will be interested to see how turismo deals with car classes and tuning as far as online play goes.
Forza is more realistic though

Repeat ad infinitum.
ETA: Get a PS3, 360s are for poor people.
