Just got back from the launch party in London, got a chance to do a good few laps and got a free copy of the game with 'review code' which hopefully means all cars unlocked.

Is the compulsory update just to be able to race online, or do you need to download it to play the single player game? I just trawled round a couple of the 24hr superstore round here, nothing yet. I'll take the PS3 into work and put it on our Pioneer 60" at lunchtime biggrin

I saw this on Wednesday here in Geneva. Thing is, I don't have a PS3 and therefore didn't buy it...! There seems to be a raft of 40GB PS3's here but none of the 60GB ones. Apart from the HDD capacity is there any difference...? Is it worth having the 60GB over the 40GB...?

They've stopped making the 60gb version and now all you can get new is the 40gb. The difference is, only 2 USB ports on the front, no card reader and they don't play ps2 games. Not such a big deal, I have a PS2 that plays PS2 games perfectly, you can plug in USB hubs and have loads of ports if needs be and the card reader would hardly get used anyway, furthermore if you need a bigger hard drive then upgrade it yourself.

I'm going out in sheffield city center at lunch time to find somewhere that's selling prologue, that's my weekend sorted....

I didn't know they had stopped the 60GB. What happened there then...? Oh well, 40GB it is. Gonna have to wait though as it's been heavy spendage the past month or so and I'm having a new sofa delivered next week that needs to be paid for...

I didnt know that either! Luckily got a 60 as those card readers are used all the time!

Ordered mine from play a couple of weeks ago, so it should arrive today. If it doesnt come in todays post I'll probably head down the shops.

Managed to wangle working from home and the BlueRay popped through the door a few minutes ago. Currently updating the PS3 and installing itself, which is taking an age.

Fingers crossed that it will be ready in a few minutes...

I updated my PS3 last night as I knew how long it'd take! about an hour I think.

Well, update to PS3 finished and a quick couple of races shows that its pretty darn good. Started off with an 04 'Teg and its certainly got more feel and precision than GT4. I might even go as far to say that its more subtle and better handling than GT3 and GT4. But will wait before passing too much judgement.

Looks ace and the graphics are stunning. Running at 1080p on a very good quality Pranny plasma. Everything is utterly smooth and the frame rate is rock solid. Beginners cup was with 8 cars on the track, but a quick go on Arcade and you have 16! Now that is a novel concept! AI seems improved too, a bit more Forza if you see what I mean.

Only one problem though, can't seem to sign in to the Playstation Network as it needs another update! Done the system update and now it needs to update GT5. What's going on here? Has someone swapped my games console for a bloody Windows XP / Vista workstation without me noticing? Since when did a GAME need so many updates? I moan too much, time for a quick go again....
