As title really, I've always been a massive fan of the GT series so is it worth buying a PS3 just for prologue?

Would already have bought one but I've got an Xbox 360, 2 PS2's, a Wii and a PSP already so the misses isn't keen on me spending another £300, but not sure if I can help myself!!

I ordered one today.

I was only putting of the inevitable until there was something that I actually wanted to play anyway. Now that GT5 is here and GTA-IV not far off it seems like the right time.

watch the GT5P video of the F40 around suzuka. I was seriously unimpressed. how much tyre squeel can one car make. And it showed off the one thing i hate about gran turismo, how easy it is to just bounce your way around a lap (in this instance uses a yellow viper to help him around). That never happens in forza

They've changed this (at least in the Japanese version). If you bounce of other cars you get restricted to 60khp (or something similar) for a length of time depending on how heavy your hit was. Also happens if you try to cut some corners or bounce of walls. It doesn't come into play in every race in the lower difficulties but it does in the harder classes. It's a pretty good system, but can be frustrating when the AI assaults you and you end up getting a penalty.

yikes
Whats wrong with a damage model FFS?! That would be fustrating on the online play.

I saw some of the GT5 videos and was impressed, then I saw one of actual gameplay with the sounds. Same excessive tyre screech, same mono-tone engine sounds when the cars in procession before the race starts.....it all looks and sounds like GT2.
Things have moved on. Why didnt they ditch the lot and start from scatch?

Trade the PS2s in? How much action are they realistically going to see?

Found a deal at curry's, PS3 Mtorstorm, Resistance FOM and an extra controller for £299. Still trying to justify it to the OH though; she's been saying things like: 'if you need it' and 'if your happy to spend another £300 on another computer'!! Bloody women!!

It's not like it's a full game though, I could understand buying it if it was for GT5, but it's a cut down lite version of it that's designed merely as a taster for what's to come. I couldn't justify spending £300 for a glorified demo.

By all means buy it if you intend on buying lots more games, but I think after a week with Prologue and no intentions to buy much else then you might just regret that decision.

The thing is there's more meat in a GT Prologue game for 20 nicker than there is in a lot of the more arcadey driving games out there that they charge 50 quid for, such as the Need for Speed or PGR games. Roll on Friday I say.

Like the system in GT4? That nearly caused some controller/tv screen interaction on several occasions.

More meat in it than PGR3 or 4? I don't think so, besides which you could pick up either of the PGR games or the full game of Forza 2 now for £20 or less.

I can remember chewing off most of GT4: Prologue's meat in a couple of days, then all that was left to do was wait for the full game.

Or you could look from the other direction and by a very high end BlueRay player (PS3 came top in a BlueRay group test by a top magazine) for £300 that also plays great looking games?
