My 360 developed the dreaded four red rings and microsoft replaced the machine.

Now however I find that when I start up my 360 it doesn't start up at the first attempt - basically the switch will light up but then nothing - no four green rings flashing around. I then have to turn it on and off a couple of times to get it to start (at which point its fine).

Any ideas - is this a case of sending back to microsoft AGAIN ?

Face it, it's going back. I suspect you won't get any help from support in terms of speed of return, but moaning wil get you free accessories. I am in the process of getting £105 worth according to the last phone call.

It should say on the document you get back. Mine had a new board and drive. Case was my old one.

Hmm... can you not take it back to where you bought it? Granted that won't help the OP now but I swapped my Xbox this week at Gamestation - 11 months old and the NIC hasn't worked since I bought it (only wireless). They swapped it no questions asked at all and I now have a shiny new one with the new style motherboard and HDMI connector smile
