Some COD4 online noob questions...

After playing COD4 to death in single player since Christmas I gave the online experience a go a few days ago - what can I say, life as we know it is over 
Anyhoo, hust a few complete noob questions...
1. How the smeg do I plant C4? I can select the detonator but can't quite work out (without getting slashed by a veteran!) how to plant the C4..?
2. Kit, does the game map decide this? Some players look way cooler than me
3. Sometimes I get a connection error, or 'server timed out' is this me (BT) or playstation network..?
4. How do I create a time proof stasis bubble so that my life isn't passing me by whilst I'm running around virtual landscapes with a large gun for hours on end

Left trigger to throw C4, keep pressing left trigger to keep planting, when you want to blow it, press the right trigger.

Defined by your weapon class, for example, if you choose sniper, you get the Wookie outfit.

What time does this happen ? Normally these type of issues occur when the Americans come on line for the Xbox.

Another tip for the C4
You dont have to have the detonator in your hand to trigger the C4, after planting it, reselect your gun, and if you want to make a big bang, hit reload twice which in the PS3 im guessing is square square.
Also another good tactic is if you are getting shot and you cant see whos doing it. Drop to the deck by holding circle, turn around where the red indicator is telling you where the bullets are coming from and drop him!
Sometimes the sight of someone dropping to the deck is enough to fool some people into thinking you are dead.
