Do you persevere or turn it off?
Discussion
Seems different people have different approaches to games, if I die more than a few times in a row at a certain point I turn it off and walk away before the console goes out the window. Do you give up or carry on through?
I find quite often if I go away and come back, having calmed down, I can do it first time round.

I do the same, recently with COD4 on Veteran, I had 2 sittings of about an hour each on 'No Fighting In The War Room' and got to the point of almost having to be put in a straight jacket and taken away. This was just one checkpoint to another mind, not the whole level.
Anyway, went home at lunchtime yesterday, put it on, did it first time and reached the end of the level. I personally put it down to a minor miracle, as the level almost killed my sanity

Fancy finishing that bit off for me now? Tell me you've got to the slowly opening door now? Anyway, went home at lunchtime yesterday, put it on, did it first time and reached the end of the level. I personally put it down to a minor miracle, as the level almost killed my sanity

Depends on the game. If I feel that I will get enjoyment from it if I persevere against all odds, then fine, otherwise I'll just get bored and do something else.
Battlefield 2 is a case in point. When I first started playing about 3 months ago, most people were damned good at it so I'd die within 30 seconds of spawning, but this was to be expected given how long it's been around. I felt it was worth playing so practiced and practiced, and now I can hold my own in a firefight, fly helis and jets no probs, and often appear at the top end of the table at the end of a game (I don't play every day so it is difficult to knock those off the top who play 24/7).

yeah, that is valid...I'm damn close to completing NFS Prostreet - but i hate the drifting thing, as im up against the last boss its damn hard, and unlike the racing, i dont really enjoy it, so it gets switched off very quickly.
I was hoping to complete it before trading it against Burnout paradise, but you know, i just might get rid tomorrow!

Usually with shooting games I get killed five or so times before the game turns into a coaster. Not much patience for those at all.

I've been stuck on the mission in GTA:SA where you need to photograph the guys from the rooftop for countless months now. So much so I've given up on the game and it's my least favourite GTA.
WTF!? That's a really simple mission.
The one that annoyed the hell out of me was breaking into the restricted area and stealing "the black project"
The *ultimate* example of the is the Nurburgring challenge with the McLaren SLR in Gran Turismo 4.
For those that dont know, 3 other Mercedes have a head start whilst you sit for a couple of minutes on the start line. Then, you have to catch up and beat all three to do the challenge.
The SLR is on road tires which means it doesnt get that much grip, and the challenge is set to the standard that you will have to pretty much nail each of the 172 corners to catch the last car. One mistake and you are pretty much finished as even on a perfect lap you only have a couple of seconds leaway.
If nothing else, it is a good way of learning the 'ring! The only way to do it is by continuous practice of the first sections, middle sections and end sections and hope you can get a single golden run...

I've still not had that golden run...I've come close, and then bloody clipped the car as I went to pass it coming into the last couple of corners...grrr....I'm also consistently a spanner in the New York 3 lap battle too. All the other Driving Missions are done though.

yeah, i remember that one - you had to nail every corner perfectly... couldnt be too careful otherwise you'd never make it, and overcook it once and the lap was blown..For those that dont know, 3 other Mercedes have a head start whilst you sit for a couple of minutes on the start line. I'm the same with shooters normally. I was ok with Resistance FOM and completed that on the easiest level, but COD4 I couldn't even do the training level, so I think I'm going to trade that in for Burnout.
