CoD4 - Is it worth "prestige"ing up?
Discussion
I hit the "prestige" option tonight after some online action today, and I'm at a bit of a pondering one just now as to whether or not I should even bother going ahead, or just leave myself at level 55 and keep playing at that?
From what I can see there seems like very little incentive to prestige'ing other than that I get a gay little gold badge with a budgie painted on it (to begin with at least for my next 55 levels) and then something as equally gay after that etc etc.
With you losing all your challenge info, weapons and perks....is there really much point in levelling up again?

Dont think I would bother! Got to level 35 so far and I tried going back to some original guns without any of the add-ons just to get some more of the challenge points, ended up getting very annoyed with crap guns!
So no, I dont want to use anything other than my trusty M16 avec red-dot sight

I'm only level 27 and I've tried to use some of the other weapons to complete the challenges, I end up just giving up and going back to my main gun with red-dot too!
The ACOG scope is pants!
I'm also getting annoyed at the number of people who just camp out in a part of the map with a sniper rifle / long scope gun!

How come some people just don't die!!! I was really close to someone in a team deathmatch game, he was on the opposite team. I unloaded 2 magazines off ammo in to his torso.. and nothing.. he just turned around and put 1 bullet in me and I was dead???????

Really annoying when this happens, usually down to lag with the connection. Usually sorts it's self out.-

I just prestiged it up because i had a lot of fun going through the ranks and wanted to do it again. I like the challenge of playing at a higher level with no red dot sights etc. From what i have played it made me a better player and take no time to get back up to a decent rank.
Push teh prestige button, you know you want to

with doing all the challenges again you get a shit load of points again, where as if you stay at 55 once you have done all the challenges your point will only go up with game xp and not challenge xp
It also gets boring as hell just staying at 55, at least its abit of a challenge building back up again.
I'm glad to get the .50 barrat back again last night for the 3rd time lol

That is what the sniper class is for though. At least on non-hardcore you get a killcam to see where they are camping.-

I disagree, if you have a really good sniper on headquarters then your onto a winner, they can keep the opposite side back away from the headquarters, and one or two of their team has to divert to kill you before then can go for the headquarters.
A sniper on Bog, bloc, ambush and crossfire are very handy to name but a view, there is probably other maps i cant think of right now.
I tend to use over kill with a silenced P90 and .50 barrat in head quarters.
The problem is when you get two team member camping with a rifle and you start loosing the headquarters. If the team all knows each other and they know one person is camping with a rifle it works very well.
When you get a random team and two are sniping and the others are noobs, its very frustrating loosing when none of them go for the headquarters and just keep hanging back.
I dont miss a thing with a .50 barrat

lol Rich, you fancy a challenge to see who gets to 55 first out of us, since we're now both sitting on the doorstep ready to press the big button?
I actually noticed we'd also been playing for a very similar amount of time too.The trouble is if I do go prestige I'll just end up playing HQ all the time to rank up quickly again. I'm getting bored of HQ and want to try some other games.
As the man said:
Headquarters for gayers
Hardcore for players
(As long as you turn off your
ing martyrdom!!!!!)I wouldn't bother if i was you, you'll only end up swearing at the game as you run around with the default classes until level 4 (ok, well about 1 or 2 games) and then coveting high level perks and weapons like the bandolier and the p90. The first 20 rank levels can be done very quickly mind, i think i hit level 20 in around 2-3 hours of play.

I disagree...
I'm with you on that. A top team will have a good balance between snipers, HQ grabbers and some defence. Clear roles and process and they'd be unstoppable. Not like us reprobates...
I'd prefer to go in some kind of assault/defence position (or anything which involves running around emptying p90's into peoples heads)

Thats the way our supposed to play COD, playing with a load of randoms just running at the HQ is gay and boring
getting utp 245 by tactics then destroying the other team as they all run helplesly to the HQ to try and capture it is hilarious.
A well positioned team, with specific people playing specific parts is impossible to beat.

same for me stu, im putting it down to lag. im gonna get a mega long ethernet cable and see if that helps as i think using wireless is causing trouble for me.-
Stuart
it gets very annoying when i knife someone to find out when i watch the kill cam that they had already moved and shot me, just my connection waiting to catch up.
once ive got the cable, we'll see how things improve.
and i hate campers too.
