So.... who got orange box for christmas? biggrin

Fantastic package. I didn't realise why it was so highly rated but now do. I only really wanted it for Portal and didn't even realise it had Half Life Episode 1 which I never played. Just completed Portal and it was pretty much everything I expected of Valve. They put the effort into taking a single concept and building a great game. The believability and enjoyment is for me all in the story, and the storyline in portal is clever and modern. It makes the story in Halo 3 that I'm also playing at the moment seem amusingly cliched, egotistical and unimaginative. Portal doesn't even suffer from a terrible end level - they absolutely learnt after Half Life 1!

Part way through half life 2 episode 1 which is pretty enjoyable too if a little familiar.

Additionally, if you own half life 2 already when you buy the orange box, then Steam notices this and lets you give away the extra copy of half life 2 you've acquired to someone else. Such generosity for all this in a single normally priced package.

Team Fortress 2 seems good enough but was never my bag...

Can't imagine all these quick-mouse-control first person shooters would be as fun on xbox?

Having played both they're just as fun on Xbox as on the PC, they're not exactly twitch controlled as something like Unreal Tournament is, where a split second can mean the difference between life and death. All the enemies in the Half Life games are fairly slow moving and give you plenty of time to aim with a control pad and it's really not that slow once you've got a bit of practice in anyway.

I'll have to get around to getting this. Already have HL2, and my mate gifted me HL2 Ep1 from Orange Box though.

I finished HL2 Ep1 this week and Portal last night and am just about to start HL2 Ep2. It would've been good value for money had I bought it, as a rental it's an absolute bargain. biggrin

I completed Half-life 2 episode 2 a few days ago and I can honestly say it's the best game I've EVER played. No spoilers but the climatic battle and the final cutscene is videogaming gold.

Has anyone got it on the PS3?

I read the reviews and they are all saying that the PS3 version is good, but the long load times and poor frame rate (??!?!?!) mark it down against the X360 and PC versions. Anyone know anything?

Valve didn't develop it for the PS3, they handed it over to EA, who haven't done the best job on the port. Valve wouldn't do it as Gabe Newell's opinion on the PS3 isn't particularly favourable.

Got it shortly after Christmas on XBox 360. Used to have hl2 on pc but didn't actually play it much, was too busy on counterstrike source. Now I own it on XBox and haven't got broadband setup yet i'm playing it more.

I played portal and finished it within one sitting, about 3hrs I think. Very enjoyable and funny game.

Played team fortress 2 round my mate's house on Live and wasn't really into to it too much.

Going to be good and finish hl2 before I do ep1 and ep2 though!

The Super grav gun is awesome.

I think the controls for vehicles could have been better.
like using the truggers toi accel and brake leaving the thumbstick to steer.

Ive all episodes now and can't wait for Episode 3.

Orange box wipes the floor with Halo3.

Good news from Valve is that Portal was a trial for a new range of immersion puzzlers.
Hope they do lots more.

Have you left the manu screen to get the trailer for 'Left 4 Dead'?
Also looks like a good game.

I am playing immense amounts of TF2 right now. Most other FPS games are far too serious and I am spending much of the game as medic and engie.

Ah the bargain of the century.

Although I'm getting very worried that I still think the greatest inclusion was the free orange-box themed peggle... Might have to seek some serious help for the peggle habit...

I got the Orange box for Christmas, didnt get my sodding broadband up until about a fortnight ago frown

It took virgin nearly 2 months to sort out after we moved in, but its worth it smile 20 meg line and TF2 is heaven.
