Best PS2 Games?
Discussion
I'm a bit of a numpty when it comes to PS2 stuff. I don't know what's hot, what's not and so I sit there playing the same old things over and over.
What are the best games for the PS2, with the following caveats:
What are the best games for the PS2, with the following caveats:
- No sports except driving, and I've got Burnout 3/4 and GT4;
- RPGs don't do it for me
I could never get Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas to pay on my machine, tried a few diferent disks no joy. But the Grand Theft Auto games are great just for messing around, drive by shootings, wheelies and stoppies on bikes, jumping rivers in cars, messing about in helecopters and boats. Great
GTA series are great, always played them on PC though so not sure what the Playstation versions are like. San Andreas probably the best, although Vice City has an awesome soundtrack...
On the driving front I also have Enthusia, but it really needs a steering wheel to play and as a result I never properly got into it, too much hassle to lug the wheel between PC and console all the time.
I quite liked the look of that bike game from Polyphony, Tourist Trophy I think, but unfortunately my PS2 was exiled to the stack of old technology before I got round to playing it.

Metal Gear Solid 2 & 3
The original Metal Gear Solid game was the best game I have ever played at the time. Walk though a puddle and alert the guards, run and hide and stopped looking for you...so coolThe metal Gear games are positively awesome. I've never had a problem with the control system, always found it rather simple/instinctive? The first one on PS1 was truly groundbreaking, just for details like the puddles mentioned earlier. Basically introduced 'sneaking' games to the masses, spawning other successful spy titles like 'Splinter Cell'. Definitely worth a purchase, as the story is always gripping - truly cinematic.
I've also been mashing the game Timberwolf mentioned earlier - Tourist Trophy. Just to make it clear, I'm very much a car nut and not particularly in to bikes, and I'd never have believed it possible but I actually prefer it to Gran Turismo. There's just so many more variables in terms of possibles approaches to bends, lines, when/how to brake etc.. so when me and a mate play '3 lap beat the ghost challenge' you can end up riding entirely different laps and coming up with equal times. Add to that bumpy tracks like Deep Forest where too much aggression will kick you off the bike and this game will have you hooked for hours. HIGHLY recommended - as said probably even better than the 'holy' GT4...

Black was a bloody good FPS
Well done that man
I was lead game tester on that for EA. It was a much bigger game before they had to cut out two modes to make the deadline!
It was my baby.
The record in our team was for easy mode to be completed in under 2hours.
I believe I was the first one to complete Black ops mode in the team

ive been playing grandturimo 4 on ps3, it bumps up graphics, its godamn brilliant, i got xbox360 with all the pgr4 and forza but theres just something about the game that is a drivers game. i must admit the drifting gets a bit snatchy but a few settings later and your fishtailing all over.
also i never knew it had so many cars.
