Finsihed the first three or so levels yesterday - watch out for the village mission is all I can saw. What an absolute bugger. Took fecking ages to make progress on that one.
It is superb; I was of two minds with the demo, but the nanosuit really makes it work for me - it gives you much more flexibility on how you approach problems - all out violence, stealth, jump over the top of it or a combination of all of it.
I was getting tired last night and was about to call it a day, but wwas involved in a massive firefight with a patrol; used the cloak to slip 100 yards away at a time, then sneak up on elements of the patrol and blow them away before going back into cloak and moving further away. Huge fun!
Sprinting out of contact with the enemy works a treat as well - I'm finding it a lot more difficult to wade in and kill the enemy that on something like far cry - they're a damn sight more intelligent for astart, and will seek cover and chase you for surprising distances. Bastards. The shotgun is virtually worthless as well, or at least I'm struggling to make to work for me. Bugger.
Going to have a marathon session on it over the weekend and see how far I get. Might be forced to buy new graphics cards soon to see it in all its glory...

The big question - what spec PC are you guys running this on? I've got an itchy finger hovering over the button to buy a new PC and this game might make me do it.
Trouble is my current PC is a home built water cooled dual graphics card big boy and I feel like I'm cheating on the wife considering a new one!

I haven't got the game yet, but I'm on minimum specs and getting a bit worried. AMD 4000+ and nVidia 6800 Ultra. The graphics are stunning. I am running an QX 6700 Quady Extreme at 4Ghz with phase-change cooling. I have a pair of 8800 Ultras SLi'd. This game is choppy on my other single core rig with a 4Ghz cpu, 3gig or ram and a single 8800GTS so I am going to buy a pair of 8800GT's and SLi them. The GT8800's in SLi are (in my opinion) faster than a single 8800 Ultra and the pair of them cost les too.
Is it me is does Crysis look very like Far Cry? I must say that running 2048x1536 on a 10' screen with anti set to 16x is makes the graphics of Far Cry look like Wolfenstein
Fraps reports 160fps so its film like and smooth.
Ditto the comments about the suit; it's better than the HEV suit in Half Life, and the jump is my favorite trick while you are in run mode, you can change fast and exit a situation really quickly then come back in stealth a bit at a time and they are none the wiser
I am sharing my gaming time with COD4 as they snipers rifle on that, and the damage it delivers is soooo satisfying.
Maybe we should get a PH online team together?

Do you really think the GT is that good?
I am about to pull the trigger on a new video card and was almost certainly going to buy a GTX, even after reading about the GT, I just wanted the oomph! Although if they're that good I might need to revise my choice...
Anyhow back to the question, saw it my mates yesterday Q6600 stock, 8800GTX & 2Gb RAM. Was jaw-droppingly brilliant, I just couldn't believe the graphics, they were genuinely amazing.
I installed at 3am this morning so will try today, although I'm running 6000+, 2Gb RAM & 6800GS 256mb so graphics aren't going to be quite
so incredible! Athlon FX-60, 2 Gb, S 7800GTx's in SLi. It recommends minimum graphics settigns at 1280*800. Ouch.
I'll hold off for Nvidias next effort, and buy one of them - seeing as a single 800GTX is a bit better than two 7800GTX's, a'9800' should hopefully do the trick.
Still loving the nanosuit; the trick is fast mode switching according to the conditions - this gives you soooooo much flexibility for situations.
I hate stealth 'em ups with a passion, but the ability to cloak in and out of dodgy situations or speed sprint out of them then jump over a wall to get out of the line fire is just ace!
The style is similar to far cry, isn't it? I was playing a fair bit of far cry in the run up to the release of crysis, and the look is pretty much the same. I wouldn't go as far to say that crysis makes far cry like Wolf3d - it still holds up well, but the foliage and so on is done much more nicely in crysis...and shooting down trees is fun!

Scan have 256MB 8800GT coming in at £120ish, which seems like a bargain of the century. Not sure I'd upgrade from my 7800GT 256MB though.
I haven't tried it in Vista yet, but no matter what graphics options I set, I always get polygon popups. Not stuff in the distance, but stuff in the mid and foreground. Even with textures on high the quality falls off extremely quickly. Much more quickly than in Far Cry.

I got it yesterday & am running medium gfx at 1680 x 1050. This is on an AMD 4400 X2 64 with 2GB RAM and a single 8800 GTS using dx9 on XP. Looks really nice & runs pretty smooth. I do get a bit of pop in at distance. Haven't really played with the settings too much though so might be able to drop the res & up the quality maybe. Seems like a pretty good game so far - I concur with the positive thoughts on the tactics possible with the suit!
Unfortunately I also got Call of Duty 4 at the same time & that is so mental I haven't been able to drag myself away from it to have a proper go on crysis!

On my above system (3 posts up) I was running 1024*768 with all settings at medium and I think no AA, I tried with 2 & 4x but I thought it was a better trade off for more FPS.
It's obviously a massive bottleneck with a 6800, don't think my CPU was really being taxed with much..
Oh well, hopefully will have the money in a couple of weeks for a GTX.

Well, I bought my copy yesterday in Media World, here in Italy, rather than ordering it from the UK. Unfortunately, the only language choices I have are either Italian or Spanish! Silly me, should have checked before parting with the €50 – However, I am still enjoying it, even though all’s in Italian, looks like a very polished and updated Far Cry, no bad thing..

Don't buy the GTX, if you want performance for the dosh, buy TWO 8800GT's and SLi them. We bought four cards as stock initially, and after benching them we went to order a load more but everywhere was sold out! nVidia have upset a load of folk that forked out over £320 for a 320meg GTS when the GT delivers the same or better performance with a card which trades at £110. By comparison the GTX is only marginally quicker and still commands a £350ish price and although the Ultra is the fastest, albeit at £400! a pair of 8800GT's in SLi' is breathing all over them at £240 the pair! If you have ever considered going SLi but didn't want to part with £800, here's your chance
Also don't forget that the 8800GT is a single-slot card, and the GTX is a twin-slot hogg which steals your spare PCI slots. It also uses the smaller 65nm die so it generates less heat and uses less power so you don't need to run an arc welder for a power supply. This card is what the Celeron 300A did to the processor market ten years ago, top end performance for little money. If you want to save more money then look for cheaper card brands like 'Sparkle' because they use exactly the same components as the big OEM's, but are stuck on 3rd party boards. You are not really fussed about having a three year or lifetime warranty because the damned thing will be obsolete in three months anyway
