Just a quickie....

In an attempt to be prepared for the next gen consoles coming out as well as HDTV, I recently bought a new LCD TV support this. Its HDTV ready and has component inputs - but at the moment I just have a Playstation2 - recently bought a component connector for the PS2 and a couple of games support progressive scan on component output...

But what modes does the PS2 and forthcoming PS3 support? I think my TV supports 768i modes (not 1024 modes), which should be fine. But on Jak3 on PS2 it comes up with 480i - not quite what I expected, or am I hoping for too much with existing technology?

Oh, and what modes does the Xbox360 support and can you get a component cable for it?

HDTV is either 720p, 1080i or the emerging and potentially true hidef 1080p

The p being progressive and the i being interlaced

The PS2 is for standard tellies not hidef

Dunno about the Xbox360 and the PS3, cant see them being HDTV only so on that basis would have thought they will output the current number of lines, interlaced so they can be used on CRT's

You can buy a hi-definition lead set for the PS2 but I think only GT4 and a few other games support it, it's only 480p but will look much better than the normal component cables, you can get a similar pack for the Japanese and American XBoxes but not the European ones without some internal mod work.

Cool - thanks for that.....

Now, do I buy an Xbox360 now or wait for the patch?
